C DIVISIO The start of our journey to the Med was very similar in most respects to the beginning week of type training. The men standing three sec- tion watches, message traffic just slightly above normal, and all communications sys- tems go. Then that proverbial something hit the fan. Seas...rough, traffic load...sky high, Comm systems...EMCON. Soon the dreaded Words were heard above the deafening noise of HI-Comm, CW and teletypes... port and star- board . Months later, a highly professional team of communicators slipped back into three section watches as the LA SALLE made the stretch run to our homeport, Norfolk. Although we in truth cannot look back upon our five months in the Med with extreme pleasure, we can look back with pride in our accomplish- ments and the knowledge that there is no bet- ter C omm gang in the Gators .
