Kevin Burill Geis Hoi -.-4n'w Cross Counirg on he Move With only three returning lettermen and a new coach. MI. Ferd Flick, the 1974 LaSalle Cross Country team faced a challenge. Prac- tices were held twice per week beginning in late July and increased in frequency once school had begun. The season started out relatively lackluster before improvement became evident. Senior Kevin Burrill took the lead and finished 5th at the Spartan Invitational. As a team at Sycamore, the Lancer Junior Varsity finished 9th out of 1'7 teams. Individual recognition went to Ron Appling who finished 9th out of 115 runners. The following week, the Junior Varsity finished in a respectable 9th place tie at the Elder Relays. In a dual meet with Aiken, at Mt. Airy Forest, LaSalle came out on the short end of a 38-23 score. Individual distinction went to Kevin Burrill who finished 1st. The following week. LaSalle turned around and defeated Milford at the winner's course. Individual dis- tinction went to Ron Appling and Jack Bresnen who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Probably the highest point of the season was seeing Kevin Burrill qualify in the sectionals at Princeton for the district meet at Dayton, Ohio. In Dayton Kevin finished short of qualifying for the State com- petition. Next season LaSalle can look forward to a veteran team which will be led by II. lay Huey. Star at Mt. H . Invitational. Coach Flick and his charges.
