These symbolize the t h r e e fields through which all activity at La- 821116 is channelled. CULTURA represents the development of culture through a well balanced educa- tional program. The students have united in their efforts for the successful comple- tion of this phase of their life at LaSalIe. Through drill and practice the pupils pro- gress in their mastery of the subjects. Many courses require speeches and demonstra- tions by the students. In others, presenta- tion is left to the teacher, but with the em- phasis set on class participation. The s 6: factors, however, are but building stones in the special group known as :cBrothersi Boys? Vh Ar 0 u at k v. !. ma Under the heading of RELIGIO, or religious training, the goal of sound Christian leader ship in her graduates is of prime importance. Through four years of spiritual guidance and incorporation of Christ like ideals in the var- ious fields of education, the school strives to attain this goal. The religious spirit and dedication of the Christian Brothers proves to be an invaluable inspiration to all those who come undEr their direction. E i 600006: Retreats, First Friday masses, and student organizations exemplify the acceptance of this idea by the student body. 6 h? This outward show comes as a result of the time tested in- gredients of competition and personal eHort for a common goal. 1964 .. . La Salle now graduates her first senior class. The seniors have grown with the school. They leave behind to those who will 110w, a tradition in scholastic, spiritual, and athletic accomplishment. LA SALLE HIGH SCHOOL 3t39 1 bJCDIti'Ii B.EIJID IKCDIXID CINCINNATI 39 ' OHIO TELEPHONE MULBERRY 1.5200 Dear Graduates, This yearbook is a pictorial history of the four years that you, the Premier Graduation Class, spent at La Salle High Schoolo These were years filled with memories, such as those of the registration day, when the school building was still nothing but a foundation, those of the frantic rush to prepare eight classrooms for the opening day of school, with many a volunteer freshman working long hours into the night assembling desks and lockers, those of bulldozers roaring under the class- room windows, the pounding of construction crews, the dust, the plaster everywhere. the eating 0f lunches in the classroom until the cafeteria became ready, and finally the first gathering of the freshmen in the come plated gym. Other memories crowd forward, memories of classroom activities, of the beginnings of a sporting program, the first appearance of our teams in the colors of La Salle, the first singing of the school song, the first practice of the band. As the years went on, the numbers increased, both of faculty and of students. New memories come to the fore with the widening of the scope of activities, the school paper, the glee club, the orgenizing of the F. T. A., the first student dance in the gym, the first basketball game, the first formal dance away from school. Finally, the completed school with all four departments brings us to the final year as seniors, the leaders of the school. You recall the campaign for the election of officers for the Student Council, the organizing of the senior class, the senior Prom, the Graduation Rings, and finally Commencement Day, with cap and gown, and the Diploma the sign of four years well spent. You have been a wonderfully cooperative class, one of the finest I have ever dealt with, and I am proud of you for the fine tone you have set to the school, the leadership you have given it as its first Graduation Class. . tw-HRH is you leave the school now, I look to you again to carry on the training you have received as true sons of the saint whose name the . school bears. I look to you to be apostolic Catholics who will make an 2 impact on the world because of the education you have received. I further look for you to give continued leadership as the initial members 0f the 5 La Salle Alumni Association, the first of a long line of men who will have received their training under the Christian Brothers at La Salle High School. cerely yours, W tamillus, tGC Administration Brother Camillus On the exterior, Brother Camillus ap- pears to be a walking univac, able to answer any problem that may arise dur- ing the course of the year. He has proven this quality by his superior man- agement of our alma mater. He is the farsighted master that has built a new tradition, a new look at the role of principal, He gives each and every stu- dent a reason to be proud. But there is the other side of Brother, the interior, the heart of this man. He is willing to discuss your diHiculties regardless of their triviality. He has the priceless vir- tue of understanding all problems. In this day and age everyone is rushed by an onslaught of the masses. Only a dedicated man can personify the indi- vidual and Brother Camillus is such a man. Brother Alfred Brother Alfred is a man of vision, ded- icated to society. He is kind, but stern in matters of importance. In his role as assistant principal, he is a vital link in the function of the school. Though, be- cause of his duty as assistant principal, he had to give up teaching, he still has found time to keep in contact with the students.
