' JUNIORS ATHLETICS GRADUATES 48 60 92 3 We dedicate the Centurion I966 to the parents and students of La Salle through whose donations and gifts the new wing is being built and furnished. Far too often the parents' kindness goes unnoticed and is taken for granted, so we take this opportunity to thank the Parents' Association for its continued endeavors. We also wish to thank the corps of fathers who pounded on doors and contacted all the parents for needed financial assistance. Soon, perhaps, we shall forget their aid, but a new section of La Salle stands as a lasting monument to their generosity. TO THE PARENTS AND aTUDENTS OF LA SALLE HIGH SCHOOL. . Our thanks also go to Brother Roger Celestine, La Salle's first principal. He envi- sioned the plans now finally being put into effect, with the gymnasium built in 1960, and the wing added in 1966. Since he is presently the Supervisor of Construction for the San Francisco Province of the Christian Brothers, he has worked closely on the plans for the new wing. His Eminence James Francis Cardinal Mclntyre Archbishop of Los Angeles Due to the encouragement and support of the Archdio- cese, La Salle was able to begin work for the addition of a new wing, in order to increase facilities for Catholic education in the Pasadena area. COMBINED EFFORT OF HIERARCH The San Francisco Province of the Christian Brothers has supported a wide-spread growth of high schools on the Pacific coast. The La Salle expansion is a part ot the program of the Brothers to increase their service in California. Brother Timothy Jerome, F.S.C. Provincial of San Francisco Province 6 Brother Stephen Martin, F.S.C., M.A. Principal Continually striving, to maintain high standards and to establish La Salle's academic reputation, Brother Mar- tin has strongly advocated the addition of badly needed facilities and increased enrollment. The new wing will fill a gap in the original plan of development of La Salle, which has been fully realized during Brother Martin's four years in office. NND BROTHERS LEADS TO EXPANSION Any addition to the school becomes an addition to the responsibilities of Brother Bede as Vice-Principal and Dean of Discipline. The present unity and spirit of the Student Body is due in no small part to his efforts and energy. Brother Thomas Bede, F.S.C., M.A. Vice-Principal FACl ENGLISH AND HISTORY Brother T. The Honor Society of La Salle differs from other organizations in that it is the local chapter of a nationwide Society. As a service club, the Society sponsors a bi-monthly newsletter, coordinates the se- mester honors program, and administers and corrects most standardized and admittance tests. As a social body, it sponsors an annual dance, a banquet, an induction ceremony, as well as college tours and programs ot general interest. La Salle is iustly proud of the number of students who have gained admittance to the Society, and of the excellent contribution mode to the academic and social atmosphere ot La Salle High School. a . .gg si 53,2 Juniors: D. ALUMNI Activities of the Alumni Association have taken a step forward this year under the inspirational leadership of its President. The organization also began this year a program llfor the future with the founding of a scholarship fund to be used by the students attending La Salle each year. The appointment of an executive committee to plan events and help bring about full participation in the alumni activities has helped greatly in the reorganization of the group. ln an effort to show their continued gratitude and loyalty to La Salle the Lancers ofthe past are planning other fund-raising activities in order to keep pace with the expansion program begun this year. Also during this year the classes met for individual reunions for the first time. The annual homecoming game against the Varsity brought back the greatest number of graduates in event's history. All of these happenings mark a new era in the Alumni Association, an era which will continue to show results.
