Under the very capable direction ol' Mr. Raymond A. Baker, 2D-lll0.'X, the boys acted out their lirst play at a school assembly just belore the H147 Christmas holiday. The lnn ol' Return, a one-act murder mystery, tells how the ghost ol' a tnurdered salesman returns to haunt the killer, Charlie, until he Qllharliej conliesses his guilt. The students listened with attention and enjoyed the play very much. For the first time in its history, the La Salle Dramatic Society was allowed to enter the annual Drama One-Act Play Festival, which was held at the Faunce House, Brown Uni' versity, March 17, 18, and 19. This is a con- test in which all secondary schools in Rhode Island compete lor the stale championship. Afterwards, the winning schools cotnpete in Y the New Iingland Drama Festival lor the New England championship. The play which the li. S. thespians put on was The Valiant. To end their lirst year, the society acted ottt a three-act play, Ulirother Orchid, hy Leo Brady, which was acted out lor the public. This play tells the story ol' a gangster who linally becomes a Brother. Membership into the Dramatic Society is restricted only to those whose marks are good. especially in English. It is hoped that next year an even greater tuunber ol' boys will join the organization, one ol' the lew in I.a Salle which gives such wonderful training in public speaking.
