I l I HOCKEX l he l93l hockey season was an in and outer if ever there was one Our team displayed both spectacular and erratic fla hes of play with eqsial regularity Withal the teams record of three tins. our ties. an two osses. is a very cre itahle one. Headed by Captain-elect Harnedy several veterans including Mc ueeney Smith Gaffney Xlolan the two 0 Donnells and a host of lesser lights answered Coach Cronin s first call for can- didates. Many of the newcomers who reported found the practice sessions a bt too strenuous and therein lies a tale. Practice for any athletic team no matter how' rugved it may seem is at least held at a reason- ahle time. Not so with hockey workouts. 'lihese :esxions were held whenever the Arena ice was availalule. which on most occasions was in the wee hours of the morning. ilihis early bird practice was responsible for the sudden falling off of the aspirants for positions on the extet e team took on the youn Sc ool of Design contingent and although holding them at hay till near the end of the game they dropped a 2-0 decision the Artists tallying twice in the last two minutes of play. During the last three years the hockey team took part in 27 contests. Their record shows 9 wins ties against ony 5 osses, ilihis sum- mary includes league games. In their first year in the Conference A League the team finished third: in their second attempt they won the league championship and this year they captured second place. In these league contests the Maroon .zextet collected Z4 out of a possible 28 points. ilihix record speaks for itself. in regard to the rapid ad- vance of this comparatively new sport at La Salle. 5 'e a: ldeing a Fitting teitimonia to the 1 a and integrity of one. ohn P.
