MAROON AND WHITE INIFX FOO I BALL La Salles 1931 football team was another step ahead in ack Cronins work of establishing firm foundation lhe work throughout the season showed a team having a well grounded knowledge of the fundamentals of football and what is more important were instilled with that fiery never say die spirit which is a prime factor IH any Cronin coached team lhe teams record for the season showed a total of five games won one game tied and two contests lost In Qeptember the first call for candidates for the Varsity w as sounded by Coach Cronin lhe raduation of several of his regulars presented him with the difficult task of filling their positions lwo gaping holes were left in the line by the de parture of im Gallogly and Brute McCarthy XII State tackle lhe backfield roster was dim ini hed by four when Moon Mullen Batastmi Sainsbury and Ken ulrk received their sheep s ins winning combination despite these losses Coach Cronin drove his squad hard in the preliminary practise After cutting the squad down to working order he conducted several scrlmmages which tuned the team up to a high pitch for the opening clash of the season with De La balle of Newport Due to no fault of our football manager but chiefly to the reluctance of neighboring schools ln refusing to accept our challenges the season did not open until late in Qctober ln the curtain raiser Capt Clancy and hi cohorts ran rampant on the Cycledrome turf en Joymg a field day at the expense of the boys from the City by the Sea the final tally reading 24 0 lhe game was featured by long runs by Daley and McCarthy Due to the lonv wait for their ALUMNGIOLDEN IL Seventy two 'VA :.'
