LA S!XLLE ACDADE V to our second year at La Salle We were now the Sophomores of the school and entrtled to all the prlvrleges of a Sophomore lhese consrsted chrefly In pulling off all the stunts we could get away wrth making the most foolish but popular so called wlse cracks and generally acting rn a srlly and wholly undlgnlfled manner Meanwhile we were belng taken over the hurdles of Geometry Latrn and Creek by our nearly dlstraught Professors Nevertheless no one could descrrbe us as bemg at all backward rn the actlvltres of the school during this year for we aided m formrng the First Student Councrl we put many players on the football baseball and track teams we drd out but to put over the La Salle Alumnr Field dedlcatron and the greater part of us labored falthfully at our books and as a result vsere en tltled to bear the name of unlors after the smoke of battle becloudmg the exams had cleared away and the bodres of the slam removed BOOK THE FHIRD lnlcllrgcnl umors l'he umm year what a store of memorres that word releases At last we were juniors lhe mtelllgentla of the school supposed to know ev erythmg about everythmg and attempting at all times and on all occasrons to prove rt After the fine start made rn our Sophomore year many of our members returned to the varrous team and were able to secure posltrons on the champion football baseball hockey and track teams as well as the mediocre ba ketball team Meanwhile other large groups from our drvrsron gave their attention to the new Glee Club the Debating Club Dramatic Soclety Orchestra et cetera All the trme we were bemg conducted through the mazes of such subJects as Greek Physrcs French and Algebra by our faithful teachers but we were happy to find that most of our members were to become Senrors after a successful attack on the exams It rs well to note here that before during and after those final exammatlons the whole unror Class was finally convinced that lt drd not know everythmg about everythmg l fact they didnt know the half of rt' BOOK THE FOURIH Expectant Seniors Happy Day' At last the goal had been reached After a pleasant summer vacation we returned for our last year at La Salle on Septem strolled about the corridors seemmgly unimpressed either by the shrmkmg manner of a ripe crop of Frosh the antrcs of the new Sophomores or the overbearlng appearance of the unrors What a lrttle they all knew about everythmg' Ah but they would learn as me drd that the store of NINETEEN THIRTY ONE Fifty three N rg . , .l. g I . - , . LA SFKLLE ACDADEPWV CLASS PROPHECY FW ERHAPS many of you had notrced that we had completely dlsappeared for a few days dur mg the Christmas holidays Up to now nothmg has been sand by us as to what occurred to us dur mg those trymg tlmes Here IS the story odd as Il may appear O the nlght after Christmas we were ambllng down Atwells Avenue ln the Austm when suddenly an overswe I4 ton truck came up behmd the staff car and gently smacked us mto the beyond 25 years hence When we awoke m the year of Our Lord I956 we found ourselves dressed ln strange clothes on a strange street and bemg stared at by strange looking people They wondered at our behavior we lmagme After slowly recovermg from our surprlse we began to take an Interest ln our surroundmgs Ex ammmg our clothing and the private papers we found therem we came to the conclusion that we were the senior members of an Internationally famous firm of Manufacturing Chemists and Drugglsts ThlS fact determmed we decided to explore the old town and to meet lf posslble some of our former classmates from back m l93l Nearly everything about the old place had changed Most of the bulldmgs had become tall skyscrapers and the streets had blossomed lnto double decked affarrs the products of the Con tractmg firm of Dlggms Gregory and Donahue The tltle of the c ty s tallest bulldmg now be longed to the great La Salle Tower owned and operated by Frank Smlth We found that many of our former schoolmates were tenants of thus bulldmg so we declded to explore the burldmg On the ground floor was a magnificent thea tre managed by McElroy As we contmued our mspectnon we found that a large part was occu pled by the combmed oumal and News Tnbum under the capable leadershlp of Francis Hanley who had gathered about htm a staff of feature wrlters mcludlng such lummarles as Car roll Halton and Johnson Incrdentally the News Trzbune of that day had carried the story of the sensatlonal non stop trrp around the world by the noted aviators Mc Donnell and O Reilly As we contmued through the buxldmg we came upon the laboratories of McCarthy the chemlst and the beauty parlor belonging to Papltto The whole of the next floor was taken over by Greens Carde Shoppe except for the law NINETEEN THIRTY ONE Fnfty flve ,, fn, . 4 is' , ' . , - 4 , .. , . , , .1 - V I4 ' A I - , - : A ,' ' ' ' . . . r , , 5 7 . . . . , : ' - 5' S , , . , .
