HISIORH OF LA SALLE ALUMWI N SPEAKIAC of thi honorable body we might begin by saying lhe least praised are the most worthy It 1 eldom that the deeds of our Alumni are sunv but nevertheless we students know that theirs ls an organization to which we can point with just pride and feel that some day we shall be members We owe them a debt which shall never be paid for on our behalf they have not only g wen money but time effort and encouragement In fact their gift have been so wonderful that daily we have offered up for them our silent prayers thanking them for our fine school buildings and its large athletic field and asking God to return a thousand fold every offering they contributed towards making our school life an enjoyable one this increase in educational facilities which we owe to the Alumni It is true that we cannot measure their service to Catholicism but we can estimate by choosing as a standard the very w orks of these men who strove sO heartily to make education easy for us In every walk of life priesthood medicine honest manual labor and elsewhere they have carried aloft the principal given to them by the Christian Brothers Never can we find a La Salle man who has turned traitor to the moral precepts he w as given in high school How do we know this3 Because by their unquestioning willingness to aid in placmv before youth the blessing they have come to hold as priceless Perhaps also another incentive w as their realuatlon of the necessity of guiding and directing Catholic young men throuvh the snares of the present day environment Nevertheless they saw what was needed for our future happiness and advanced willingly to the task of supplying the nee . And now that they have given us a high school and an athletic field equal to any in Rhode Island they are not Going to cease their work but are endeavoring to create a scholarship fund whereby a certain number of students will be sent to La Salle each year at the expense of the Alumni.
