AZARIAS EORENSIC LEAGUE: In the Azarias League competition, La Salle won every one of the seven speech contests except dramatics-taking fifteen individual oscars and six team trophies. Among the oscar winners were Charles Lyons, William Sheehan, William Austin, Joseph Cordova, Francis Delahanty and Reinwald Bernhardt, who in A.F.L. and C.F.L. competition collected eight individual oscars in such varied events as oratory, extemp, debate and dramatics. Also doing well in frosh speech contests were Dennis Cushman, Peter Wertz, Paul Campbell, Thomas D'Orazio, Stephen Vlomis, James O'Hare and Gerard Steffens. A.F.L. Grand Tournament-Extemp Contest Winners: left to right: C. Lyons, R. Bernhardt, W. Sheehan. DEBATE: Under Brother Edward the debaters, Dave Gal- lina, Hugh Greene, Valentine Lehr, Frank Murphy and Sal Olamia, compiled an excellent record. Their best meets were at the Peacock Tournament where they tied for second place out of thirty , schools with a 7-1 record, and at the New England Catholic Boys High School Debate Tournament where they had a 6-0 record, good for first place.
