Juniorate junior Novices, the lads of high school age training to become Christian Brothers, are really trial size Brothers. They do all the things that the Christian Brother does, only to a less intense degree. In the junior Novitiate the boys pray, study and take recreation with a view to cultivating their spirit of piety and spirit of study so that they can be more devoted and intelligent Brothers. That is the prime objective of the juniorate. The accom- panying pictures vividly portray the daily program which strives to make this objective a reality. Are these boys extraordinary students or more pious than you or your companions? No. They are ordinary lads from the same school and neigh- borhoods as yourself. It's just that they have channeled their talents and sense of piety toward a wonderful goal-the life of the Christian Brother. And every moment of their day in the juniorate is planned to make that goal attainable. 'i'i ig' V xx l Early morning rising is in the ancient tradition of the monk. The juniors begin their day at 6:00 o'clocle. Now and again the Brother Director and one of the boys will take some time for more personal talhs. In this way each boy can receive the necessary guid- ance that he needs. junior Novices have many opportunities for advancing along the way of Christian perfection. Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament is the junior Novice's greatest source o inspiration and happiness. A part of each morning, afternoon and evening is devoted to religious exercises in the chapel. The course of studies in the juniorate follows the standard college preparatory academic program. Small classes insure a thorough training. w l 1 1 4 4 w 1 .
