F05 Illell 'L It all began in September 1950 when as bewildered U freshmen we entered La Salle It took us sometime to 'AA settle down and get used to high school but we finally made our presence felt ln the academic fields E Kealy A Scorsone W Paggioli J Dell Orto J Hessel W Hughes H Pettersen W Malloy J Hegarty and G Glynn were our first honor representatives in the Cardinal Hayes Honor Society The future public speakers under the direction of Brother Andrew set a fine pace for the next freshmen class P Mansfield E Kealey J Bindrim J OBrien F Corcoran V Kane J Morgano and J Hollywood were the speakers of our class Future hard wood stars made their appearance in early November G Glynn D OBrien M McGeever T Seery T Condon W Malloy J OLeary J Hegarty andJ Neyland made up our frosh team Mr Buckley took over the reins as head basketball coach Brother Peters summons for track candidates brought to the fore H Davey W McKeever J Clune J Oliva A Schmidt D Schreck and J Hessel The lunior varsity baseball team coached by Brother Gerard hadJ Collins T Seery W Cullen B Gibson V vanZutphen E Martmez H Prokopiak and W Smith representing our class Mr Carney and the Glee Club did a marvelous 'ob ln presenting Gilbert and Sullivan s operetta the Yoeman of the Guard After the final exams the summer vacation was a welcomed relief for most of us W Smith leaves to continue his studies in the Brothers Juniorate at Barrytown N Y 4 S010 0l'Yl0I'85 'T' - The vacation past too quickly . . . Back again in ' . September. Its rumored that Latin and geometry are ,rfa K tough. Some switched to mechanical drawing with - - ' ' Brother Jerome- the rest tried to follow Caesar through Gaul. The rumor was true about Euclid s subiect Despite the difficulties E. Kealy W. Malloy J. Hessel and W Daab managed to lead the class again with honors . . . Brother Alfred named vice- principal to replace Brother Walter . . . E. Kealey won first place in the Azarias Forensic Humorous Interpretation contest. P. Steinwagner led the way in the St. La Salle Auxiliary Drive. Four sophs made the junior varsity basketball team: D O Brien M. McGeever T. Seery and C Stauffer G. Glynn was moved up to the varsity. Stalwart trackmen H. Davey W. McKeever A Williams and J. Oliva continued to burn up the indoor and outdoor tracks. E Martinez and C. vanZutphen made the varsity baseball team and R. LaMarca W. Cullen W. Daab T. Duane R. Zatorski and H. Prokopiak won positions on the iunior varsity. J. Wise A. Devlin and, R. Pylilo were part of the chorus for the operetta Mikado - another excellent iob by Mr. Carney. The regents caught some off guard . 56 f I - .
