During our stay some sixty officers and 'men toured Portugese-built Fort'Mirani, that has guarded Muscat cove for the past .four centuries. A highly successful children's party was held on board for some 50 children from Muscat and Mutrah, featuring ice cream, cake, drinks, a special program on closed-circuit television, and a tour ofthe ship. The last 'n-ight of our three day visit to Muscat 124' 26 Septlwas ani ht to b . . A ' , g 9. remembered, especially for the fortunate thirty who attended the P.D.O. Club. party at Mina, al-Fahal. The men were invited into various homeseof oiland construction company employees .for dinner. The congenial atmosphere and home cooking were a welcome escape from shipboard routine. The night was topped off by av party at the P.D.O. Club featuring the Greenfield's band plus mucho single European girls! A good time was had by all. For many others, just wandering around the quiet streets of 16th century Muscat was an educational and unique experience in itself, giving a fleeting glimpse of a world still-firmly embedded' in its past andionly recently becoming aware of the changing world outside Below' Fort'Mirani overlooks Muscat' harbor. f T .A l Q r ' FTTUSCAI 4 1 i ...Wi ,r - ,,,..,.,r..........-.tsiassnsslqm I .
