Held at the Elks Country Club, amidst the rolling hills and the giant oaks, the tea is the only “hat and glove” occasion preceding graduation. The event is the last social one for the girls and for Mrs. Embrec and Miss Bccslcy who. as senior counselors, arc also guests. Miss Bccslcy co-ordinates the program each year. The theme of this year’s program was “Charm in a Capsule.” pre- sented by a representative of Patricia Stevens Beauty College. Each year the tea emphasizes the role of young women in our society. This exclamation can be heard echoing through the halls as enthusiastic students approach the end of another year. For the seniors comes the long-awaited graduation. Hardly able to sustain their glory, the seniors proudly parade up and down the halls the last week of school. The night of graduation is a different story. In a flurry of blue gowns and mortarboards displaying tassels. the Class of “67” receives diplomas and enters the world of college and jobs. At this time of the year also comes the initiation into Honor Society, a club of tradition and much prestige. Both events arc symbolic of the numerous scholastic achievements made by the students throughout their courses of study. Possibly it's no more than riding a bicycle along a shady street or having a picnic at your favorite spot. It’s earning money in a “fun way or teaching someone to play golf. Maybe it's playing tennis, or rowing a boat to the other side of the lake, or just being able to decide what to do with a whole day. “Summer faces have the most interesting expressions. They reflect all the activities of summer. The sun-bleached hair, freckled skin, sun-burned noses, and carefree ex- pressions will fade with the coming of fall and will lie replaced with serious thoughts of school. to QpVut L Ck toJfeiOtflyis QpiAJfa T Xhi Varsity cheerleaders I.P H S. football i!Jmo arc the highlight of the fall cavm Gloria Oakes. The twirling cheer- leaders. the waving hands, and the excited faces bring the real character to the basketball game True unity and school spirit are best developed through the comaradship felt by the spectators during their mental participation. ANTICIPATION!!! There are other moments when a rather pensive air sweeps over the crowd. These arc the lulls in the game, the time to talk to your neighbor, discuss the last play, or notice the pretty girl or handsome boy two rows ahead of you. This is the time to outguess the coach as to the next move or criticize him because of the last one.
