As freshmen we elected Tim McCarty, president; Dick Fitz- patrick, vice-president, and Judy Jones, secretary-treasurer. Our sophomore year was on exciting one. This was the first year in the new high school. Dick Handley was president; Tim McCarty, vice-president; and Dianne Bernacchi, secre- tary-treasurer. ’65 We pressed on to our junior year. Our main goal was to make the Junior Prom a success—and it was! Helping to moke Camelot o success were class officers, Dick Fitz- patrick, president; Pete Scott, vice-president; Christie Swan- son, secretory; and Dianne Bernacchi, treasurer. Finally it was our senior year. This year brought much joy along with some sorrow. Pete Scott was elected president; Dick Handley, vice-president; Donna Uhlemann, secretary; and Judi Musselman, treasurer. Here's to our classes, here's to our lasses has been sung for the last time by the seniors of '65. CtM i CMpjQPj (jO Corbon, Deborah Corey. Craig Ca h, Barbara Chlupocek. Carol Chlupocek. The closs financed the Junior-Senior prom by selling cookies at lunch, selling basketball pins, and sponsoring several after-game dances. many academic and extra-curricular activities. The sophomores selected Dave Reider as president, Charlie Broshares as vice-president, and Kathy Miller as clerk. Mr. Roger Stutesman as sponsor assisted the officers. The mem- bers of the Council, representing their respective classes, strive to create a co-operative atmosphere between the faculty and the students. The Student Council is composed of the following: six senior class representatives, elected by the seniors,- six junior class representatives, elected by the juniors,- and four sophomore class representatives elected by the sophomores; the class president of the three classes,- and the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer of the Student Council, elected by the entire student body. such os the pep committee, the building committee, and the election committee. These committees are essential to the handling of problems which arise in the self-government of the school. The Council's main objective is raising money for the American Field Service program in La Porte High School. The profits from the book sales in the paper- back book store, operated successfully for the second year, were used for the above purpose. The Council was also responsible for the Homecoming activities and all class elections. Officers elected this year were Doug Morrical, Jerry Janisch, Christie Swanson, and Joan Wyzczowski. Mr. Tarnow is the sponsor of the Student Council. 7« There are also standing committees of the Council SENIOR BOY REPRESENTATIVES - ROW It M. Jocobi. T Hollingsworth. G Bigg. M. Rvpwithol. 1C. I Although the Slicers were rather ineffective, they still played the finest form of basketball seen in many a Slicer season. The South Bend Central game proved to be a real heart breaker. The Slicers led by ten at the end of the half but only shot three times in the third quarter. This lack proved to be a fatal mistake. In the Central game the Slicers had a 67% overage from the field but dropped the gome 57—47. While participating in the Holiday Tourna- ment, December 28—29, the Slicers earned sec- ond place. 8atk tboll coach ; Corl McNulty and Norm McGocwy. During the 1965 season the La Porte Slic- ers ployed some very commendable bas- ketball. The Penn Township game is a good ex- ample of fine playing; the Slicers came from behind and won the game by two points. During this game there were ploy- ers such os John Collins and John Wells, who turned in very good performances. Another instance of good playing was the game against Knox. Even though the Slicers won by ten points the game was very close until the final few minutes of the last quarter. The record does not depict clearly the type of ball the Slicers played this season, since almost all of the games we lost were hard-fought and close games. bosk tbcM 19G4-65 1964-65 BASKETBALL SCHEDULE Nov. 24 Nov. 27 Dec. 4 Dec. 5 Dec. 11 Dec. 18 Dec. 19 Jan. 8 Jan. 9 Jan. 15 Jan. 16 Jan. 22 Jan. 29 Jan. 30 Feb. 5 Feb. 12 Feb. 14 Feb. 19 Feb. 24 -25-26-27 Knox Tolleston Hammond Mortor Crawfordsville Elkhart N.S. Ambition, optimism, inquisitiveness, spirited purpose and enthusiasm are youthful attributes which have helped make our nation great. A Ithough these qualities are generally inherent in young peo- ple, they know no age barrier and can be found in young and old alike. It is our wish that each member of the 65 class will continue to enjoy the spirit of youth through- out a long fruitful lifetime. MANUFACTURING COMPANY.
