La Porte High School is in- deed fortunate to have so ex- cellent a principal as Mr. French. He takes an active interest in all school functions, giving his advice and aid when needed. Well known for his firm discipline, helpful atti- tude, and capable mastery of his duties, he is a respected figure at our school. The Board of Education comprised of Mr. Elwood Hahn, Dr. G. O. Larson, and Mr. Carl Baumgartner aid Mr. Paul F. Boston in managing the public schools. These men, who willingly give their valuable time without pay, devote themselves to bettering the educational facilities of the school city of La Porte.

Outstanding among the events of 1950 was the completion of the Kiwanis Field Stadium. The project was launched in 1945 with Mr. Harold Hargrave heading the finance committee. Contributions, pledges, and gifts financed the building. Dedication services, open to the public, on September 8, 1950 were conducted by D. E. Lewis. The mottled tan face brick stadium scats 3400 people. Both home and visit- ing athletes find the spacious dressing rooms and well-equipped shower rooms to be a marked improvement over splinter alley.” The press box provides an excellent vantage point for the game announcer and technicians. May this splendid structure serve as a monument to the thousands of people who helped to build it.
