3' 5 s -of'2f3 -L Ai TO STUDENTS OF LA PAZ: As you know this school year has brought upon us many new experiences, both good and bad. Probably the worst tragedy we faced this year was the explo- sion of the Space Shuttle Challenger and the deaths of the seven astronauts aboard. Although disasters like this occur, we do have good events to look forward to, like the arrival of Halley's Comet. As you do know, this is only a once or twice in a lifetime experience. As you have already deducted, our theme for this year's PIRATA has been based on important space happenings, mainly being the 76 return flight of Halley's Comet. Although all of this affects us greatly, it really didn't sink in because we've been too busy with school activities. Those of us in Journalism have been working hard to put this year's PIRATA together and meet EL CONQUISTADOR deadlines. Those of us in Science have been conducting ex- periments and discovering new fields of interest. Those of us in Foreign Language classes have been finding out about other countries' customs through the mastering of their languages. Those of us in Industrial Arts have discovered fun and new ways to use our skills to create inventions that are useful to us. Those of us in Musical Drama have been devoting our time to making the sequel to BYE-BYE BIRDIE. Those of us in ln- strumental Music have been improving our techniques. Those of us in Art have been exploring our talents. Those of us in Typing and Computers have been improving ourselves in the fields of business and computer programming. Those of-us in Clothing have been developing sewing techniques and designing new styles of clothing. Lastly, we've all been trying to achieve our personal best in our academic classes of Social Studies, Language Arts and Math. If we have done this, then I guarantee our future will be great.
