Every team in the league was very strong this year. Comparing team records bears out this fact. Each team lost at least two games a piece except the championship team, Walker Junior High. The captains Ed Borbon, Dan Hubbard, Manny Mejia, and Bob Terranova led the Patriot defense to be unscored upon during the second half of every game except one. .84. We didn ' t get it together until the final week of the season, and by then our team was playing the best teams in the district. It was a poor year as far as the scorebook goes, but it was one in which 1 personally, and I hope, some team members learn- ed and value of true hustle and teamwork. I fee! the players will go on to bigger and better things as they all have the talent to do so. All it will take to achieve this is keeping their heads in the right direction. To the team - thanks! 1 really learned a lot. R. The seventh and ninth grades enjoyed their finest seasons ever with a 6-1 record and both were Western Division runnerups. The eighth grade had a very fine undefeated season (7-0) and were Western Division champions. The boys were hard working, dedicated and dis- played a great deal of enthusiasm and sportsmanship tliroughout the season. At the time of this printing the ninth grade team was preparing for the District track finals and if hard work and determination mean anything, we should give a very fine showing. A big question-mark as to the success of the season will be if the team can improve enough to reverse all the many close games that were lost last year. Only time will tell.
