Mr. Kimrey was our class sponsor. Our first duty was to elect our officers. They were: Jim Carver, Carolyn Stamberger, Bernice Fischer, Barbara Barkman, Jane Feik, and Margaret Silfies. Our queen candidate, Barbara Barkman, was elected Homecoming Queen for 1958. Judy Cass was our Valentine Queen candidate. We wore unusual, eye-catching costumes for the Freshman Initiation. Robert Mandrell and Gloyd Neperman left us and Ruby Lashley joined our class. In the fall of 1959, the more experienced students entered L.C.H.S. for another eventful year. Our officers were: Tom Maloy, Jim Carver, Alan Portzen, James Stuepfert, Carolyn Stamberger, and Margie Kerchner. Mr. Doemer was our class sponsor. Bernice Fischer was our Homecoming Queen candidate and Sharon Thompson was our Valentine Queen candidate. Bernice Fischer was a French girl in the Little 8 Play Contest and Ruby Lashley was her understudy. Our float Blast Off To Victory rocketed second prize in the Homecoming Parade. Barbara Day, Jim Thompson, Eugene Lachat, and Art Chapman left the class during the year. In the fall of 1960 we returned as upperclassmen and were greeted by Mr. Doemer, our sponsor. Our elected leaders were: Charles Cherry, Barbara Barkman, Judy Cass, Carolyn Stamberger, Carla Bonnell and Carol Carver. Carolyn Stamberger, our queen candidate, reigned over Homecoming. Our class play, The Millionth was Millie, directed by Mrs. Gillingham, was a great success. Ruby Lashley played the role of Millie, and she played Pierrette in the Little 8 Play Contest. A most eventful evening was April 22, the Junior-Senior Prom. The magnolia tree, wishing well, and a picture of a Southern plantation reflected the theme, Southern Hospitality. During the year we lost Jane Feik and Roger Cogdal; we gained Carol Snodgrass. The long dreamed of time has arrived. We were Seniors at L.C.H.S. and were wisely guided by Mr. Doemer. Our able officers were: Margie Kerchner, Bernice Fischer, Carolyn Stamberger, Jim Hamacher, Jim Carver and Alan Portzen. Our Homecoming Queen candidate was Carla Bonnell. The Juniors honored us on April 28 with the Junior-Senior Prom. A straw hut and palm trees in the gym reflected the theme Tropical Twilight. Our senior class play was a modern revised comedy, The Taming of the Shrew under the direction of Mrs. Gillingham. Jim Stuepfert and Judy Cass were leading characters in this wonderful hit. Officers are listed in this order: president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer, Student Council representative, G.A.P.C. representative, and reporter. As we walk down these halls we look back upon them and the memories we have gathered through our high, school years. We think of all the ball games, the dances, the parties, and yes, even the studies. We know we are taking a big step forward, but our memory still lingers to our high school years. As we leave the school we stop to look back at our old friend and know we will always have a tender spot in our heart for our Alma Mater. 50 SENIORS LEAVE MANY TREASURES LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF THE I, Barbara Barkman, do hereby will to Susie Fischer my ability to be captain of the cheerleaders.
