Senior Class History On September 7, 1948, twenty-nine freshman sailed into the halls of L.C.H.S. on the good ship Learning to start across the Sea of Knowledge . The following were chosen to run the ship; captain, Jacqueline Drummer; 1st. mate, Vivian Meyer; 2nd. mate, Roger King; navigator, Mr. Sellers; and log keepers, Marilyn Barger and Patricia Kessel. On September 28, we were initiated by the sophomores and seniors. During the year we lost Mary Khor, Tom Underwood, James Brown, and Vivian Meyer. Eileen Einsele became 1st. mate. September 6, 1949, twenty-five sophomores sailed once again into L.C.H.S. to continue their voyage. We elected: captain, Jack Weeks; 1st. mate, Marva Lou Fetzer; 2nd. mate, Irma Dissinger; navigator, Mr. Sellers; log keepers, Marilyn Barger and Roger King. At the end of this year, Emily Sarrizan transferred to Hall Twp. In the Fall of 1950 we sailed back into the Hallsof L.C.H.S. This year we chose: captain, John Lundgren; 1st mate, Jacqueline Drummer; 2nd. mate, Jack Weeks; navigators, Mrs. Bender and Mrs. Duncan. Vivian Meyer came back to L.C.H.S. after spending a year at Mendota High. We lost Wayne Plumier during this year. One of the exciting moments during the junior year was the arrival of our class rings in January. On April 4, we presented the play Are You Mr. Butterworth? We were hosts to the seniors at the annual junior-senior banquet on April 28. In September of 1951 twenty-three seniors started the last lap of our voyage. Marva Lou Fetzer and Dale Maloy did not return and Wyman Billington came to join us from St. Louis. We lost Fred Koch during the year. John Lundgren was again chosen captain. The rest of the crew included: 1st. mate, Irma Dissinger; 2nd. mate, Mildred Strobel; and navigators, Mr. Baxter and Mr. Zimmer. This year we enjoyed making the poor freshman suffer. We won first prize with our class float at the homecoming. Our class play, Sandy Shows The Town , was presented November 29, Mildred Strobel was chosen by the class and faculty to recieve the D.A.R. award. The juniors honored us on May 10, with their junior senior prom. Senior Class night was held on May 16. On May 21, the seniors enjoyed a day in Chicago. The day was spent sight-seeing and was brought to a close by seeing a stage play. We received our diplomas on May 29th, climaxing a very memorable four years of our lives. 7
