Seme digs for the ball. Captains Bridget Adam and Kim Brodkin had to lead the 1987 Volleyball team with their pride and spirit. Early Practice started and the girls complained of bruised arms, and sore muscles, but through the complaints we could see the formation of a team united through bruises and hard work. VGLLEYBIALL Beginning fresh with a lot of new talent, the 87' Laker Volleyball squad came out with high hopes. Also new to La Lumiere was a new Coach, Poncho Rodea. The new team was disoriented for a while due to all of the new changes. Even the veteran players had to change con- siderably to ft the new system. SGCCGR With a team of twenty-three mem- bers, coach Larry Sullivan set out to do what he could with primarily rookies. Conditioning and basic drills made up a majority of the first months practices. Time passed, and the players matured into a team. Problems came and went. Their record of 4 and 9 does not accurate- ly display the ability of the team. At times even their zeal to win set them back. The strong and forceful leadership of seniors Austin Griffin, Chris Griffin, Matt Halup. Vytas Kasnuinas, Captain David Kennedy, David Langley, Mike Mack, Captain Tim Mock, and Geza Owen-Fe- kete gave the team the drive to suc- ceed. ln the end, the spirit and unity of the team made the year a success.
