Who would have expected it? After losing to eventual league champion Westview in the third game of the season, certainly not Mr. Coppens. After losing to defending champion Argos next, in overtime, certainly not the student body. After tieing pre-season favorite Bethany Christian in the following game, certainly not the team. But wait! Yes, the team did plan to beat Argos, for the first time ever, in the Regional Championship. It did plan to continue all the way to the title game of the State Championship Finals, to send four players to the All-Conference team, and to wind up the season with the most wins ever for a La Lumiere Soccer team. Sure, it is inex¬ plicable how a bunch of hard working soccer fanatics, led by a solid core of enthusistic seniors and coaches, achieved such a level of greatness. But La Lumiere often steps over the boundary into impossibili¬ ty. And toward this end. Soccer 1975 stumbled upon an unchallengeable truism: that the surest way to win is through refusing to lose. 37

; With the return of the Mac Lave rty Cup champion and the number three and five players from last year ' s winning team-I mean, club-plus some other seasoned veterans and some exciting newcomers, the tennis outlook was bright. The courts were complete, and the fencing was up; but, much to the dismay of a patient Father Knoll, the team-I mean, club-just could not seem to pull together. They managed only once to overcome much more practiced opponents. Of course, the team-I mean, club-always put forth a noble effort; but, without the necessary practice time, it was an uphill battle. Perhaps next year, the tennis team-and I mean, team-will finally have a real chance to prove itself! I 39
