Sanitarium The San really becomes home to those who live there, with everybody in- terested in what happens to everybody else, The patients even play tricks on the nurses, in spite of which the students enjoy their three months in this special service. Dietary Department Good food, Well prepared and attractively served, is a necessity in any hospital, and the rule here. Miss Walters, our efficient dietitian, plans all the meals, including special diets. Mabel Yoder, first tray girl, is setting up dinner trays. 14

Obstetrical Department Caring for the mothers and the babies, each of them a distinct personality even in the first ten days of life, is pleasant work. Being on call for deliveries undoubted- ly has disastrous effects on the nursels eight hours per night, but it is thrilling, one moment to be deep in sleep, and five minutes later to be over in the delivery room scrubbing, and then to witness the drama of life unfolding anew. 626 babies were born here in 1946. ' Medical Floor The Medical Department offers great variety and interest, as Well as plenty of hard Work, to the student nurse in the six months she spends in this service, 1130 cases were cared for in 1946, in addition to 260 emergencies, Which are 'treated in the emergency room, shown above. 13
