THE SENIOR CLASS HISTORY CHAPTER I. Friends and kinsmen of the class of 1934, hearken unto the words that I shall speak: o January, 1931-Word came unto us saying, get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred and from thy fathers house into a land that I will shew thee, and I will make of thee a useful nurse. o September TfIt came to pass as we traveled from far countries we reached the land of La Junta and abode there three years. uSeptember 11-A voice came unto us saying, as- semble yourselves and comeg draw near together ye who have come to join us for this night ye shall be invited to the hills. Behold, our dietitian has pre- pared for us a program and a feast. 0 September 28-Of long assignments there is no end and much study is a weariness to the probationer. o October 1-So said we, let us depart unto the hills and make merry and eat and drink. Weird stories were told of angels on horseback, the stars, and grave yards. Alas, when the wood is burned the fire goeth out, so each nurse departed unto her own room. o November 16- Arise, work, for the light is come and the cries of the suffering can be heard in the land. So we labored on our first day of duty. 0 November 1SfNow we twelve were of one purpose and of one speech and we said one to another, go to, let us give medicines and speedily cure the sick. oNovember l9ACome now, let us reason together, saith our instructress. CHAP o September l5!VVhat is the cause that the former days were better than these? Behold, the seniors have gone to Denver. oOctober l-Man has sought out many inventions and doctors delight in lecturing thereof, but we in- creased in wisdom and knowledge. oApril 1-In these days were two of our members ill and it came to pass after our class doctor exam- ined them, they went forth from us to regain their out the way of the plains to her with friends near by. more virtuous than a junior? A sister-in-the-profession has gone to dwell with a maker of medicines and a mixer of drugs. e September 12-In the evening we say, what profit doth a nurse get in all her labors. One patient cometh and another passeth away, but their beds remain to be carbolized. 0 September 13-But with the rising of the sun we rejoice in our labor of love. 0 September 15-The sisters of the class of 1934 have reunited in Denver. e September 207Rejoice, Oh seniors, in the days ot thy affiliation! oOctober 15-For in much wisdom is much grief. T oNovember 22-Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: WVhatsoever thy senior telleth ithee to do do it with thy might, whether it be scrubbing floors, rubbing backs, or to Wait on our men of medicine. o November 26-Thanksgiving Day, Lo! The appetite is filled! oDecember 8-Several times a concerning us: O ye thoughtless my office, know certainly that you this day. So we were friends. oJanuary 7, 1932-We were continually with the wiser and guided by their counsel, and afterwards received into their favor, so we became freshmen. o January 17-This have you hear: It turned home from were robbed people. 0 February 28-We is the message that we would came to pass as the nurses re- Prayer Meeting, behold! They cast our blue garments from us. 0 March 28-In these days, when the number of nurses was multiplied, they joined themselves together and formed a student council. 0 April 13-Lo, the winter is passed, exams are over and gone. 0 June 1-For four weeks We dwelt in a distant land and rested from our labors. E R II. not what these things mean! Tell them, behold, the juniors are come to the Creamery and have taken the ice cream thereof whither ye know not. But the seniors rebelled against us and said, as we live, we will pursue you and ye shall know that we, the seniors, have spoken it. Who can withstand a junior in the evil day 'F Woe unto her that striveth with them. oJune 15-Verily for three months we must be parted, for some say among us, let us go forth there- fore unto Denver that our experience might be in- creased and that our minds might be established in knowledge. o June 7 - To everything there is a reason: A time to love, a time to speak, a time to embrace, a time to get. Verily, verily, I say unto you, one maiden has been gotten. T E lt III. 0 October 20-We have climbed Mt. Lookout, we have drunk water and eaten dry sandwiches, the soles of our feet are tender and cabbage patches by the way- side cause us to turn up our noses. 0 December 15-We, ourselves, awake early and study for examinations. o March 15-We were glad when they said unto us. get thee back unto La Junta. e April 15-Love not sleep lest ye neglect the publi- cation of the annual. o May 1fNo senior knoweth the future but we abide in the hope of a Junior-Senior banquet, senior sneak day, and graduation exercisesg but greater than these is our desire to be always ready to serve. And all the seniors said, AMEN. -BESSIE BENELLA 25
