This has been a year of many Firsts for all of us as the good ship Viking sailed through its first year as a true Senior High School. lt has been a year for new attitudes and new traditions and you can be proud of your achievements in establishing so fine a course for the maiden voyage of the Senior High Viking Ship. I have watched you struggle and nearly flounder with some of the problems you faced at the start of your cruise and l have had the pleasure of seeing you re-evaluate your mission, accept your many responsibilities and attain your goals in a sound and mature manner. There are no limits for our Viking Ship if we continue to sail in this direction. Dedication A55 ,, New- ' The individual to be limelighted this year was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania. He was stationed in Italy as a sergeant in the Marine Corps, serving from 1953 to 1957. ln 1961 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Buffalo College of Education in Buffalo, New York. He came to us the same year, and has since become head of the art department. He hos been our yearbook advisor for three years, and is now head wrestling coach, and can be seen doing calisthenics with his boys . lt is this ability to participate in the activities he supports which makes it a certainty that he will always be respected, loved and remembered by those with whom he works. Therefore, it is with good foundation and sound convic- tion, that we the Student Body of La Jolla Senior High School, dedicate this 1964 Viking to Mr Charles Stromberg. leafs' to X' 4 X f 1 M -. , M H Q Y ff W' R .ef . The pass-catching of Dick Allman, Rob Childs, Rick Eveleth and Butch Taylor, the superior running of Taylor, Bruce Forbes, Mike Mclntire and Dave Robinson, and good kicking by Greg King and Greg Maynard assured the Vikes of another good year. Probably the biggest single asset to the team, though, was the new La Jolla Health Studio, where players gained confidence and strength during the summer months. Also the Rev.
