I have never known a finer group of students than attend LhlhlS. I love teaching very much! It is a fun and ex- tremely rewarding profession. Some of the most rewarding experiences I hove had revolve around the GAA program at La hlabro. I have come to know many students through swim team, synchron- ized swimming, and especially GAA classes. I have a greot deal of respect and admiration for these girls and find it hard to express In words how very much I hove enjoyed working with them. My Senior GAA class I will never forget. In addition to GAA activities, I hove had the pleasure of being flog advisor, a Girls ' League ad- visor, and a folk music club advisor this year. I wel- come opportunities to know as many students as I can. I hove also been active as faculty social chair- man. My outside interests Include the guitar, (natural- ly), water skiing, swimming, camping, and all out- door activities. I also enjoy 35 mm photography and men (of course!). MISS MARILYN JACOBS MISS JACOBS ' mother and sister. CARL JACOBS, Wayne Erven. Miss Jacobs ' sister. Elaine Erven, and 26 FAVORITES Hiqhlanders! Born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, I cour- ageously volunteered to serve in Europe during the Korean War. There, I spent two years in France with the United States Air Force. I was educated at UCLA, where I took my BA and MA degrees in political science and it was while attending UCLA that I met my wife, Sue, who is a very competent artist. We have two children, Kurt, 5, and Erika, 3. My major interest lies in travel. I also enjoy folk music and, of course, politics. In my two years of teaching at LhlhHS, I hove come to know many fine teachers and students. I hope that my students have enjoyed my teaching OS I have enjoyed them. MR. When I return to my country, I will carry back a whole year of memories which I shared with you. I want to thank you for making this year one of the most unforgettable years of my life. I am proud and always will be proud of being a hiighlander. Before saying good-bye, I wish you the best of everything. I hope — crossing my fingers — I ' ll see you again soon. With love, Suzy SUZY ' S quiet manner and friendly smile hove helped her to win many friends. SUZY ' S PARENTS are very proud that their daughter was chosen to represent Turkey in the U.S. Mr. ond Mrs. Ayan 31 FROM PARAGUAY Hi, Highlanders! This was my gree+inq a few short months ago. Now I must say good-bye with much regret, but with many fond memories to take back to Paraguay. Thanks to all for the help you gave me. You have provided o most pleasant picture of the U.S., and I have acquired ideas which I will carry back to my country. This has been a delightful year. I am thankful to all students and teachers for the memorable ex- periences. Adios, Terri V Wmm-i -jUm ■ ' t H --A ' - ' V , TERRI feels quite at home on the LHhIS campus and has been warmly received by all. TERRI takes a breather during one of the many Paraguoyan fiestas. THE RITTER FAMILY relaxes in the beouty of their back yard. 32 GREEK VISITOR Last summer I was privileged to be the American Field Service representative from Lo Hobra High to Greece. What a wonderful way to start my Senior year! Most of my summer wos spent in Mallio, a small village on Crete. There t lived daily with the people in the home of my adopted family, the Grammotokikises — my mother and father, my sister Ann, and my 4 year old broth- er Nicko. My adopted father is the owner of a general store, and it carries everything from food to clothing to appliances! I will never be able to for get the wonderful people of Greece, the beautiful dance fes- tivals, magnificent beaches, fattening foods, or the ancient Greek ruins that were so much a part of my trip. Thank you is not enough to my wonderful family who extended the worm Greek hospitality to me, nor to AFS for making my trip possible. My summer in Greece and my Greek family will remain an everlasting memory in my heart! Thank you, Leslie hHeimer THEGRAMMATAKIKISES LESLIE IN GREECE 33 t- BILL FILLMORE CLASS PRESIDENT Jk • ■ The SENIOR Rock symbolizes the s+reng-j-h and unity of the mighty Class of ' 65.
