emo: ass Hlbffjlg Twenty two members ra1ded good old L H S as starry eyed Freshmen ln 1950 Four students were added d'ur1ng the year They were Fr1tz Frleden Dorothy Houseman Beverly Cooper and Dorothy Bartz more g1rls Before we struggled through the f1rst year we lost Dorothy Bartz Dorothy Houseman Glen Schroeder and Juamta Hazel joe Re1d and juamta Hazel were our can d1dates for k1ng and queen Mr Lovejoy was elected for our Sponsor Offl cers were Melba jo Tmemann Pres1dent Austln Warmng V1ce Pres1dent Carol Green Secretary Treasurer and Mar1lyn Cox was Reporter When Mr Lovejoy had to leave we elected Mr Rlchard Pettrbone as our Sponsor We came back for our Sophomore year not so starry eyed as before but w1th mneteen members We gamed a new member june Kmdred another glrl Ralph Ludwlg and Charllyn Shults were k1ng and queen of the class Mr Calabrese was elected our Sponsor The class offrcers were Char1lyn Shults Pres1dent Me1v1n Tmemann Vxce Pres1dent Almce Solter Secretary Treasurer and Melba jo Tlemann was Reporter Student Counc1l members were Ahce Solter Char1lyn Shults and Melvln Tremann S1x students were 1n the sen1or band E1ght g1r1s were members of the chorus Three g1rls and four boys played on the basketball teams Well here we were aga1n ready to enjoy our Junlor year Wlth twenty members One new member was ga1ned Nancy Rrch The carmval candldates for k1ng and queen were Melvm T1emann and Beverly Cooper The offlcers elected were Melv1n T1emann Pres1dent june Kmdred Vxce Pres1dent Beverly Cooper Secretary Treasurer and Faye McRae was Reporter Mrs Helen Frer1cks was elected to sponsor th1s group of l1ve1y young people Two g1rls and fwe boys were on the basketball teams The three peppy cheer leaders from our class were Char1lyn Shults Mary Lomse W1seman and Beverly Cooper We had three g1rls and two boys taklng chorus Student Counc1l members were Mary Louise Wrseman june Klndred and Ralph Ludwlg Back for the last tune we started our Semor year w1th twenty members Bonn1e Brown was marr1ed 1n the summer and d1d not return to school but the class ga1ned one new member Joann Farr Later Joann marr1ed and moved to Qumcy Mar1lyn Cox and j1mm1e Wolfmeyer were elected class cand1dates for k1ng and queen and were v1ctor1ous as hlgh school carmval k1ng and queen Class off1cers were Char1lyn Shults Pres1dent Ralph Ludwlg V1ce Pres1dent Mary Loulse W1seman Secretary Beverly Cooper Treas urer and Nancy R1ch as Reporter Mr Gr1esbaum was elected, as our Spon sor Student Councll members were A1lCe Solter Nancy Rlch Mar1lyn Cox and joe Re1d Al1ce Solter was elected Pres1dent of the Student Counc11 We had three g1r1s and one boy 1n band two glrls and f1ve boys ln basketball two girls 1n chorus The cheerleaders from our class were Beverly Cooper and Mary Loulse W1seman Semors that started together from the f1rst grade were Ralph Ludw1g jzmmle Wolfmeyer Sarah Feldkamp Darlene Slater Melba jo T1emann and Carol Green In lookmg back ox er the four years w reallze that there lS no place l1ke school to have fun make frlends and pre pare one s self for h1s mtended 11fe work l S ' I I T . , 1 1 I I I 1 . . 1 , 1 - - . vQI'OpllQCy As the sun comes peekmg from over the ocean we Melba jo T1emann and Carol Green start on a Journey back home to La Grange MISSOUTI hop1ng to see some of our old classmates We have decmded to make many stops on the way and see the beaut1ful slghts Wh1le the repaumen are gettlng our yacht ready we d1scuss our plans and rem1n1sce a l1tt1e Although we are the wealth1est women 1n Flor1da Melba IS a l1ttle heartbroken When she f1n1shed school at the Un1vers1ty of M1am1 she wanted to be a broadway star but she Just couldn t make lt She s1gned up w1th TV and now owns two large networks and wr1tes her own shows As for me I fulfllled my 11fe s amb1t1on and became an a1r l1ne hostess I now own two alr l1nes of my own I am completely sat1sf1ed Well the men are f1n1shed so I guess we w11l get started G11d1ng across the ocean we head for New Orleans We make lt m two days When we dock we see another yacht r1ght next to ours and to our surpnse stand 1ng there was Char1lyn Shults now Char1lyn Reld Ne asked her where joe was Char1lyn told us he had some unflmshed buslness at Gulf Port on the outsklrts of New Orleans Chanlyn 1nv1ted us over for dmner and we accepted the 1nv1tat1on Go1ng through town we stopped at a dress shop whlch was owned by none other than Sarah Feldkamp We talked over old t1mes and we asked Sarah how come she never marr1ed She told us that she had become a man hater They all tr1ed to marry her for her money and she found lt out so that set her off men After eatmg dumer we deczded to get on our way At the dock we saw joe standxng there looklng at our yacht We were very glad to get to see h1m before we left We talked for awh1le and then started off aga1n The mormng IS so beaut1ful as we near the Port of McRae Melba pomted out the fam1l1ar1ty of the name and when we looked over to the dock there was have anythlng else to do Faye was berng a professlonal old ma1d She told us she l1ved 1n jackson so she drove us to her home We talked and then went to town Wh1le r1d1ng around she told us that Jlm Wolfmeyer also l1ved ln jackson so she took us over to h1s home We talked wrth jrm for awhlle He told us he owned a paper company After many years of dellverlng the Qulncy Herald Whlg he declded to relax We Sald good by to J11'1'l and Faye and were on our way aga1n We traveled for a couple of days and dec1ded to stop We docked at Jonesboro Arkansas We left the yacht and declded to look the town over Wa1k1ng down the street we heard the most awful clatter We looked around and here came a old Jalopy wlth Austln Warmng ln lt He had on an old torn shlrt no shoes and grease all over h1s face It looked as lf he had been work1ng on the th1ng that was supposed to be a car He stopped real sudden as soon as he saw us Aust1n sald he wasn t poor but just wanted everyone to thlnk so then he wouldn t have to pay so much 1ncome tax He told us he owned the largest used car lot ln thls part of the state The people around those parts called hlm Square Deal Warn1ng Austln sa1d he always got cheated every t1me he bought a car m La Grange so he was golng to try to be falr about all h1s car deals We bade hlm good by and were off once more R1d1ng up the M1ss1ss1pp1 we declded to stop over 1n St L.ou1s smce that IS where I flrst started my career We got off the boat and walked a few steps and a taxl cab just about h1t us The drwer backed up and asked us 1f we were hurt We sa1d No Then we glanced 1n the back and there was june Kmdred and j m Ludwrg june and J11'1 l were marrmed and owned a cab company and had two k1ds . , , . , . , . ., . . .
