CULVER STOCKTON VARIETY SHOW On February ze a group from Culver Stockton College enterta1ned w1th a var1ety of mus1cal numbers The L H S band under the d1rect1on of Mr Helmer also played several selectlons The program was sponsored by the Band Boosters Club SOPHOMORE PARTY On March ll the Sophomores enjoyed another theater party 1n Qumcy All of those who went had a very pleasant evemng JUNIOR PARTY Mrs Frer1cks gave a party for the jumor Class at her home 1n Ew1ng March 12 The mam entertamment was playmng cards and danc1ng Refreshments of sandwmches potato ch1ps punch 1Ce cream and cake were served Each one rece1ved St Patr1ck Day favors SENIOR PLAY House for Sale Haunted a mystery comedy was presented by the Semor Class March 19 under the d1rect1on of Mrs Frerlcks and Mr Gr1esbaum DRAMATICS PLAY Sm1l1n Through a romant1c comedy 1n three acts was presented by the Sen1or dramatms class on Aprll Z3 The stage was beaut1ful as an Engllsh garden w1th a br1ck house as a background The play was d1rected by Mrs Frerlcks SENIOR DAY Flfteen of the mneteen Sen1ors went to K1rksv1lle on Aprxl 26 to attend the annual Sen1or Day held at K1rksv1l1e State Teachers College In the mormng the opera Down 1n the Valley was presented Conducted tours were held 1n the afternoon followed by an assembly presented by the Internat1onal Club and a dance for the Sen1ors held 1n K1rk Aud1tor1um JUNIOR SENIOR BANQUET AND PROM The J'll1'1101'8 enterta1ned the Sen1ors on May l w1th the annual banquet and prom Sta1rway to the Stars the theme was carr1ed out beaut1fu1ly 1n the gym Mlss Bays from Culver Stockton College was guest speaker at the banquet The mus1c for the prom was prov1ded by Carl Landrum s Orchestra SENIOR WALKOUT DAY On May 5 the Sen1ors walked out of class and went to Hann1bal for a p1cn1c After lxmch at Mark Twa1n s Cave the afternoon was spent szghtseemg at varlous po1nts of lnterest ln Hann1bal BACCALAUREATE The baccalaureate serv1ce was held 1n the L H S Aud1tor1um Sunday May 9 Zach All1son gave the invocatlon and the scr1pture was read by Melv1n T Reverend A J Kun-lred gave the address COMMENCEMENT N1neteen Sen1ors recelved d1p1omas at the commencement exerc1ses on May 12 The 1l'IVOCat10n was gwen by Allce Solter The speaker Reverend Lee Anotony was tr oduced by Charilyn Shults - - . . . 1 . . . . . . - 1 . , - v . . , . . . . . . . . , . . . . . . v 1 . . . . 9 9 1 n - 1 S . u n . -- 1 a 1 . . . . vents to emem er Th1rty one Freshmen were 1n1t1ated 1nto hlgh school on September 18 After wear 1ng the1r crazy clothes all day they were treated to a party that mght Entertam ment was prov1ded by the Freshmen and many students jomed 1n the games and dancmg wh1ch followed Refreshments of punch and doughnuts were served JUNIOR PLAY The jumor dramatlcs class presented the comedy Growlng Palns October 16 wmth Mrs Frencks as d1rector SENIOR PARTY All the Semors enjoyed a party at Mr Gnesbaum s on October ZZ Bes1des sack mg confettx for the carmval several games and dances were enjoyed SCHOOL CARNIVAL On October Z3 and Z4 the annual school carn1va1 was held The carmval sponsored by the P T A was very successful w1th a net prof1t of S1007 j1mm1e Wolfrneyer and Marllyn Cox, Senlors were crowned Kmg and Queen of the hlgh school STUDENT COUNCIL PARTY November Z0 the date of our f1rst home basketball game a party was glven by the Student Councll for the teams who played La Grange and Lewmstcwn Games and dancmg were enjoyed Refreshments were served JUNIOR PARTY Mrs Frer1cks treated them by taklng them to a p1cture show 1n QUIHCY The event was to celebrate the successful sale of magaz1nes HIGH SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PARTY The faculty enterta1ned the h1gh school and the seventh and elghth grades by taklng them to the Canton Theater to see The K1d From Left F1eld on the mornmg of Decem ber 23 In the afternoon gmfts were exchanged and everyone jolned 1n the hohday sp1r1t by sxngmg carols and playmg games Ice cream cake and punch were served by the faculty ALUMNI BANQUET The annual alumm banquet and dance was held In the hlgh school gym on December 29 The gym was beautlfully decorated 1n a Chrxstmas motlf D1nner was served by the Semor Class and prepared by the Rebekah Lodge FRESHMAN PARTY To get the new year off to a good start the Freshmen enjoyed a party at the school house on january 14 The tune was spent playmg games and danclng SOPHOMORE PARTY On january 27 the Sophomore Class and themr sponsor journeyed to Qumcy for a theater party They took a school bus and stopped ln West Qumcy on the way home for a lxght snack RABBIT SUPPER Desp1te the snow and sleet the Semors went to Mr Gnesbaum s for a dellclous rabb1t supper on january Z6 The boys frled the rabb1ts and the g1rls added the fuushmg touches After supper everyone enjoyed watchlng televlslon playmg cards and dancing Q o il- 90 Q o . s - - - s ll e o il I D D The junior Class was pleasantly entertained on December 21, when their sponsor, Cl s a I! .
