GITIS Basketball Palmyra November Z1 The g1rls played the1r f1rst conference game of the 1952 1953 season at Palmyra They defeated the Palmyra g1rls 47 34 La Grange November Z5 The flrst home game of the season was played agamst Ewmg Ewlng was the v1ct1m of a 40 Z7 vlctory for the Eagles Lewlstown December 9 The Eagles traveled to Lewlstown for another conference game The La Grange g1rls won aga1n by 40 35 La Belle December 13 The Eagles traveled to La Belle for a close game The La Grange g1rls squeezed out the La Belle g1rls by the score of 47 45 Canton December 16 The La Grange Eagles met Canton on thelr home floor The Eagles dlsplayed flne ball handlmng and won over the C H S g1rls 47 30 La Grange January 6 The Eagles met the strong Kahoka g1rls here for thelr sixth conference game The Eagles were not up to standard and lost by the score 53 48 Ewlng January 13 The Eagles played Ewlng there for a very hard fought game I was close all the way through but the Eagles fxnally came out on top 42 41 thelr fourth conference game at home The Eagles won easily by the score 81 40 La Grange January 20 The Eagles played another home game w1th Lewlstown and won Wlth the fmal score 74 4 La Grange January Z3 The Eagles added another game to the1r wins by beat1ng the La Belle g1rls 54 47 La Grange January Z7 The L H S g1rls met Canton here for a flne game The L H S g1rls won by the score 49 19 Kahoka January 30 The Eagles traveled to Kahoka for the game of the year The Eagles had two dlsadvantages agamst them but were able to beat the strong Kahoka g1rls by the score 61 60 The La Grange g1rls also played flve other games that were not conference games They were as follovt s HERE HERE THERE HERE THERE B a 6. LEWIS COUNTY INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT November 10-15 The first game was with the La Belle girls- The Eagles won 45-33. The second game was played against Williamstown. The Eagles lost 45-43. The La Grange girls met Ewing for third and won by the score 38-27- MONROE CITY TOURNAMENT December 1-6 The first game was played against Ewing- The Eagles won by the score of 35-26. The second game meant Life or Death, for if they lost they would be out of the tournament- The girls playedmcon, but lost 65-64. PALMYRA TOURNAMENT February Z-7 The first game we played Ewing and won by 63-55- We played Kahoka the second game and won by the score of 59-41. We played the La Plata girls for first- We lost by 51-42.
