Band and Chorus The La Grange Hlgh School Band cons1st1ng of forty two members chose he followmg people to serve 1n the1r respectlve offlces for the year 1952 53 June Kmdred Presldent Marllyn Cox V1ce President Elaxne Smith Secretary Sh1rley Brandt Treasurer Charlotte Fahey Reporter Th1s year we have agam set up a polnt system When the 1nd1v1dua1 receives 500 polnts he rece1ves a school letter You may get pomts by these methods play mg solos for the mstructor marchmg 1n parades p1ay1ng 1n concerts gett1ng a new horn and other ways You also get polnts deducted for mlstreatlng horn and mus1c forgettlng horns or mus1c We attended the K1TkSVllle Contest agam thls year The La Grange Band on September 13 went to the Nauvoo Grape and Wme Festlval We recelved th1rd prize wh1ch was a whlte r1bbon and S 15 October ll Saturday October ll 1952 the band went to Culver Stockton Homecomlng That mornmg we marched 1n the parade After lunch we attended the football game and played a march Washmgton Post at the half October 24 and 25 Fr1day and Saturday n1ght October 24 and 25 1952 the La Grange Band played for the annual School Carnlval s Kmg and Queen ceremonles January 29 Thursday January 29 1953 we gave our fzrst band concert of the year ln the La Grange Hlgh School Gymnasxum We played several marches overtures and novelty tunes February ll Wednesday nxght February 11 1953 the band m full unlform played at the tournament We d1d a square dance and some street marchmg February 14 Saturday nlght February 14 1953 the band ln full unlform played at the Junlor Hlgh Tournament We played s1x short numbers Glrls Chorus November 10 Monday November 10 1952 the g1r1s chorus sang two numbers at the Parent Teachers Meetlng Those numbers were The Bells of St Mary s, and Down By The Statwn Phyllls Wlesemann was the accompan1st Orchestra December 18 Thursday nlght December 18 1952 the orchestra plcked from people ln the band played for the annual Chr1stmas operetta Those playmg were Ann Sprmgett clar1net Joan Breuer tenor saxophone Donald Br1nk1ey trumpet Charlotte Fahey bass drum Verne Wolfmeyer snare drum Mrs Flower flute and Phyllls Wlesemann plano Junlor Band January 12 Monday January 12 1953 the Junior band played several p1eces at the Parent Teacher s Me etlng 1 ' 1 t . . . . . g . 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 ' N 1 ' 1 1 1 I ' I 1 1 . , . 1 1 1 ' , . u . 11 Y Y ' J I Y . , . .
