I heard the songbirds calling; The drowsy hum of the bee; The summer rains soft falling; And still I waited to see. At last in the first flush of morning, I beheld a sweet vision of white, Which had blossomed as sun’s rays were warming The chill of the previous night. I gaze on the faces of classmates, Alas! we are soon to disband, Our joys and our sorrows—our sealed fates, Are held in the palm of His hand.
