STUDENT COUNCIL The student council was very active in school activities this year. It helped to make ours a better school by letting the students have a voice in the government of our school. It was also responsible for the distribution of football and basketball schedules to the business houses in town, it helped with the Homecoming activities, welcomed new students, and promoted school spirit. This organization helps the students learn to function in a democratic way, and better prepares them for citizenship in the community of their choice. Many honors came our way. We had two cheer leaders, eight football players, and King and Queen of Homecoming. The Senior Play and Junior-Senior Prom rounded out our activities. After Graduation, the future is ours. An important goal in our lives has been reached, but we will strive to reach others: not as a class, but individually. As each of us go our separate ways, we will long remember our class-mates and all the good times we've had. VAUGHN ALLEN Vice -President To know him is to appre- ciate him. HOME- COMING KING AND QUEEN George Cox Carolyn Feldman ATTENDANTS IUNIORS Mike Stevens Evelyn Marquis SOPHOMORES Charles Rhynerson Sandy Williamson FRESHMEN Larry Clearwater Evelyn Hurt INDIAN ROYALTY Bob-Farris Linda Stephens Homecoming has become a traditional activity each football season. In the crisp air of Indian summer our tribes ready themselves for the trials to select our most outstanding braves and prettiest maidens to compete for Homecoming King and Queen. Each class elected candidates, then the student body voted on these candidates for the 1966 King and Queen. Our candidates marched onto the field to the resounding beat of our school band, there to hear the name of our winning candidates. Our Indian Chieftain, who was master of crowning ceremonies, was Bob Farris. Our Indian maiden, who assisted him, was Linda Stephens. Indian regalia was worn with pride by these two, as they stepped up to crown George Cox and Carolyn Feldman, King and Queen of Homecoming 1966. To make our evening more satisfactory, our Indian Braves won then football game with Olathe School for the Deaf. The Collectors , Louisburg's go-go band, provided music for our victory celebration here in the Val- ley of the Swans. Of these, 30 will receive attendence awards at the end ofthe year. We cheered our football team to third place in the Linn League. To boost our school spirit for the annual Homecoming game, we sponsored a pep rally at Hurley Field. The citizens of La Cygne were invited to this rally and everyone joined in the burning of the Jackrabbit, the mascot of K.S.D. On the day of the game, the students and faculty marched downtown and held a rally on Main Street. During basketball season we sponsored the Mr. and Miss Spirit contest. A brother and sister team was elected. Mr. Spirit, George Cox, and Miss Spirit, Kay Cox, were crowned at our last 1967 league game. To add to our enjoyment of the evening, we were victorious over Pleasanton, our opponents of the night. CHEERLEADERS Bev Cindy Joyce Diane 4 .f -.ff -- ' - .w f fw- . .
