The music department, under the direction of Mrs.Lois Irwin, presented many fine numbers for programs. The girl's glee club consisting of 39 members was accompanied by Erma Rose. Sharron Driskill was accompanist for the 19 members in boy's glee club an the mixed chorus. A cantata WMusic of BethlehemF was memorized by the glee clubs and presented in December. CHILI SUPPER On November 20, the Minnie-Ha-Has entertained the football squad with a Chili Supper. Clhe Indian Theme was carried out in all the decorations. The stage was the scene of an Indian village with tepees and canoes. The tables, arranged in the shape of a football, were donned with Indian decorations, consisting of miniature tepees J t over the nut-cups, cut-outs of Indian warriors, and pro- me 2 Hurst, grams with an Indian Chief's head on the front. and Coach An enjoyable program was presented by the following: Group singing, led by Joyce Terry, Welcome by Barbara Wilhoit, Response by Hurst Hiller, Freshman gir1's chorus, composed of Marilyn Jones, Mary Sue McGee, Carol Hatch, Joyce Andrews, Sara Woodburn, Judy Sims, and Janet Culterg Introduction of the boys by Coach Pat- rick, along with a few jokes, pantomime by Ronald Tompkins and Ronald Smith. A square dance was also done for our enjoyment. Clayton Venn am! ,Kenneth Farris sang Be-Bop-A-Lula. Mr. Handley made the closing remarks. The evening was finished with dancing. The Sophomore Home Economics Glass prepared the Chili Supper. Freshmen Pep Club members were the clean-up committee. 9 14 1 C A -,fry A lu. . e 'e sf' lr ,ff S CHRISTMAS VESPERS Christmas Vespers was presented December 13, under the direction of Mrs. Lois Irwin, by the combined glee clubs of the high school. As they sang, each song was beautifully illustrated by angels, shepherds, Joseph and and the Wise Men. Johnny Andrews was Joseph, Kathryn Pease was Mary, Jimmy Weickert, Hurst Miller, and Roger Lawhead were the Wise Men.

Vi I' School Kan! The La Cygne High School Band, under the direction of Mrs. Irwin, consists of 56 members from the high school and seventh and eighth grades. The band performed at each home game with marching maneuvers and stirring march music. Ruth Ann Pease was the Drum Major this year. A new white satin uniform trimmed in gold was purchased for the Drum Major. Twirlers were Noreen Smith, Sara Woodburn, Carol Hatch, and Janet Culter. The Band participated in the Linn County Music Festival in March at Pleasanton, and the District Festival in April at Pittsburg. Ann P9336 UM? Attention! Noreen, Janet, Sara, Carol
