'I'hose books read included H X J TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, THE POND, CAINE MUTINY ' TRIAL, and WHEN LEGENDS DIE. - Many movies were shown to correlate the reading with visual experience. Some of these were: TOM SAWYER, JOHNNY TREMAIN, THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER, and A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Finally, the new Quadruplex was ued by English teachers V I and Government teachers to integrate the two subject areas. All the departments met with the counselors in the mid- i' C116 of the year to discuss next year's plans. Below the ii i . J T' h T J English department pauses for a rest during their meeting. OUPJMANY COMMUNICATION QKJLLQ. The Reading Department teachers endeavored to introduce a new program to Reading classes this year as students went on field trips in the Santa Barbara area These students went to the police station, the News- Press, the airport, a hospital, Cable T. V. and many g other interesting places. Also, many speakers came to the classes to speak and to answer many student ques- tions. All of this came about through Project Opportu- nity which, among other things, familiarizes the stu- dent with vocational opportunities in the community. Both the teachers and the students enjoyed these worthwhile activities. ng . ills- . 42' I 4. . , 'E u-Yr' I Q . l 3 I , 5, - ' 9, ' ,JW K. he Qvrx-. lf- Mrs. Nancy Lorden, Reading Dept.
