THEY WEEE ALWAYS FZEADYTO HELP The Teacher Aides are a great help to teachers and students. They p type test papers for the teachers and correct tests and do other things to l help them in their busy schedules. This way the teachers have time to set up special projects or have a slightly easier work load. 'N e VICE PRINCIPALS: Two of the people we will remember from La Cumbre are Mrs. Jean l ' Anthony and Mr. Otis Powell, Girls' and Boys' Vice Principals. Besides helping us with various problems and responsibilities, they also devoted ' their time to aid the office staff and Mr. Dal Bello. when we needed help, they were always ready to give it to us. If we needed understanding, they understood. Sometimes we didn't see eye-to-eye with them, but most of the time we could see they were working to make this year a memorable one. COUNSELORS: At one time or another almost everyone has gone to see the counselors. It might be about next year's course choices, a SCAT test percentage, a transfer, or a quesdon about college. They are there to answer such questions and to help if you have problems with school work or at home. They use your grades, your SCAT and STEP test percentages and teacher comments to place you in the class where you will do your best. They also help you decide whether you want to take a certain course or not. ENGLISH AND READING DEVELOPED This year the English curriculum proved interesting for 4 everyone. Several good books were read this year by stu- , 4- dents in each of the three grades. 'I'hose books read included H X J TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, THE POND, CAINE MUTINY ' TRIAL, and WHEN LEGENDS DIE. - Many movies were shown to correlate the reading with visual experience. Some of these were: TOM SAWYER, JOHNNY TREMAIN, THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER, and A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Finally, the new Quadruplex was ued by English teachers V I and Government teachers to integrate the two subject areas.
