Head Coach Mike Sacchini feels that the 1981 football team was one of the most exciting in the school ' s history. An agressive and hard-hitting defense along with an explosive offense were the reasons for a 5-5 record, the best record since 1974. Coach Sacchini credits an en- thusiastic and dedicated senior class for a good year. Four members of the 1981 team were given All-Conference honors. Running back Don Briscoe, linebacker Jim Mabry, and guard Jim Purucker were chosen to the First Team. Jimmy Troupe, noseguard, was named to the Second Team. In addi- tion, Jim Purucker was named the Most Valuable Linesman in the N.I.C., a first for any player at LaSalle. The varsity wasn ' t the only one to enjoy a good season. The B-Team played well enough to obtain a winning record under Coaches Rajter and Rodick. Coach Steve Rodick is back coaching at his alma mater after play- ing at Hillsdale College. The freshmen under Coaches Hardman and Licknerawicz won the first football championship at LaSalle.
