CO CO O O :: CO i CD O O O CO The 1980-81 coed soccer team had many improved in- dividuals. Despite the many losses, the team did well in tour- naments. There were a lot of in- juries that hurt the team badly. Coach Joe Stante felt that a strong spirit of the whole team was exhibited. Much individual leadership was also exhibited by the team captain Sean Major and the goalie Dan Latson. The LaSalle Lions put forth a lot of effort and always strove to win. With some of the players having 2 to 3 years of experience and with many im- proving players during the year, Coach Stante thought that the LaSalle Lion soccer team was one of the finest teams he had coached. upp. mid: The referee watches the game carefully, upp. right: Coach Joe Stante concentrates on his team. mid. right: Chris Pajakowski studies the game cautiously. 26

Lack of depth and seasoned seniors hurt the Lion Har- riers, but an abundance of underclassmen talent should make future years very promising. The 1981 captains were seniors, Shawn Pettit and Robert Toth. Both showed great leadership through many rough times. The rest of the team was comprised of five juniors, a sophomore, and a freshman. Mr. Kovatch feels that in the years to come LaSalle ' s Cross Country Team will be able to rebuild its program back to the dominance it has shown in past years. Mid.
