( ) The 1981 girls ' tennis team did (1) not enjoy a particularly good (J season, but was pleased in being able to use the brand new tennis courts. % The team, which was coached O by Miss Kathy Nowicki, had many ( individual wins, but couldn ' t put I them together in one single match to bring home a victory. Juniors Jill Wagner, Lisa Roberts, and Nancy Leszcynski, who was given All-Conference honors, will be returning for their senior year and should show good leadership. Also returning are sophomores Karen Frank, Jenny Woodrich, Anne Myers, and Cheryl Cauffman. Lost to graduation are Ron ' a Smith, and the foreign exchange student Gabrielle Janz. The 1981 season also was the last time Miss Nowicki will be coaching. The record doesn ' t tell the whole story of 1981 Boys ' Tennis. The team finished the season with a very fine, but somewhat disappointing, 3-9 record. The team gained a lot of experience and needed talent ifrom the freshmen and sophomores. The team had fo ur seniors: Keith Kopinski, Spencer Moore, Hoang Do, and Russell Lechtanski. The team entered the sectionals inexperienced, but Coach Kowalski was satisfied with the team ' s performance. Coach Jim Kowalski is also looking forward to a better and more prosperous team next year. He wants to bring the winning tradition back to the Lion ' s Den.
