'Sl Putting ourselves into perspective is a way of discovering our identities and conveying them to others. The realization that we are a much greater part of LaSalle High School than a code number on a grading card will dispel the notion that we are merely faceless members of that vast con- glomerate known as the LaSalle student body. People cannot, however, be labeled, and any attempt to do so is often resented. There is no way any fingers can be pointed with the intention of singling out a purely typical football player , high schooler , or freak , Such separation may tend to give the impression that the commonness of all is synonymous with greater unity. Although unity is a very de- sirable condition, it should not be com- promised into commonness, we are identi- cal only in our uniqueness. Focus 5

l P' Our faces, solitary or part of a crowd, can mirror a thousand and one different emo- tions, each distinct from the other by only the gentlest nuance. We can look upon the outside world wearing the same masks when alone or in the presence of others, or by displaying a disguise that can be changed along with our moods. A face in the role ofa mask or disguise is shunned by some as unnatural, yet main- tained by others as a necessary part of re- flecting personality.
