Jw N 'av Y,- PROPHECY DATE: May ec, 1950. Let's visit the Salem Reunion. Walking down midway a sign flashes before our eyes. The Erofessor Red Rubin. Of an opportunity 'tee see an old pal, great professor. As we sit before him, he gazes tells us the future of the versatile Great Fortune Tel er can not pass up such so let us visit the CO'L1I S8 we into the crystal and Seniors. His first vision is of a ranch on the rolling plains of Texas. A most fmnaliar figure is plains on his ten dollar It is often told that he the famous Senorita Helen and looking lovely in her that of Adrain Bee, roaming the horse and fifty dollar saddle. rides across the Border to hear Dippold, singing her love songs gay Mantilla. Flash! Broadway!!! Here we see in lights the name of Norma Weinrich and Leon Schwarm. Norma is just finishing her most successful operetta and Leon amuses the people with his wornout jokes. This time we see going into one of New York's largest buildings a very famaliar figure. He acts very much at home, because he enters a private office, props his feet on his desk and lights a cigar. He looks like the tradi- tional business man ---- but who can it be? Ah---the visi- on is coming closerf-closer. What a pleasant surprise--- Harold Kline. By the way there is a beautiful blond sec- retary in the outer office leur own Zola Fear of the dmss of 19421. We move down the street a few doors and see Colin Har- vey, the glamour boy of Fifth Avenue enter one of the km- gest banks in New York. A smile of recognition crosses his face as he remembers the cashier. Why, its his old classmate, Lester Gluesenkamp. The crystal is changing, we move to a large hospital in the quiet zone of Chicago. Dr. Luther Lacey and his efficient nurse Shirley Rogers have very serious looks on their faces, because Marion Rush is having his face lif- ted. We move to a residential section. Florine Borchelt with several flaxen haired children hanging to her skirt tail is busily preparing supper for her devoted husband. KGuess Whe?3 As the crystal moves again, the scene is a basket ball game. Coach Harold Monical is giving final instructions to his players while Principal Evan Williams close by is dreaming of his good old basket ball days. We see Betty Boyd at the well-known Boyd Institute for Girls, instructing her students on improving their Eng- lish, Pilot Lee Straueh and co-pilot Donal Hoover are a fanl- liar sight as they board their twin metered plane for their daily run between New York and Chicago. We see flashing lights, but new the scene changes to the inside of the building. Charles Lee has just fin- ished directing his orchestra in one of the most recent hits. He plays his number again but still the master of ceremonies does not appear. Kenneth Simmons is late again without an excuse. The scene changes to a baseball field. We look at the pitcher, blink our eyes and look again. Why it's all- star Bill Norman warming up for the World Series. Bob Wilkerson the water-boy comes running with a bucket of water and Bill a swig. We gaze into the crystal again and it takes us to a farm in the Middle West. Lavcrn Engle is driving back and forth through the field on his latest model tractor. There isayneasant look for Lavern's face--crops must be favorable . We move way back to the city where we find Lucille Schnake and Evelyn Rubin preparing for work. Lucille is getting ready to speak that monotonous nhellen because she has a job as telephone operator with the city's lar- gest firm. Evelyn is a favorite stenographer for Weale's Motion Picture Firm. New we see Lieutenant Lester Grandt at the head of the line of soldiers at West Point, leading them through their daily routine of marching. In the last scene we see states Attorney Charles Wells addressing the jury in a very crowded court room and at the same time arguing with the defendent's attorney Duane Goodman. Good luck, boys. May the Lest man win. We must have one last look into that wonderful crystaL We see Miss Hyde and Mr. Monical guiding future Seniors of LaGrove Community High School. If they do as good a job in the future as they have done with the present clam of 1942, there will be no cause for worry. We bid Mr. Rubin farewell and wander off dreaming pleasant dreams. ENGINEER: Mr. Krutsinger. CREW: Mr. Monical, Mr. Wells, Miss Hyde, and Miss Hadley, TIME: 8:45 A. M. PLACE: Farina Station. , Alllll-A-Board!--And our train is off on her four year journey to the Land of Knowledge. Our first day is filled with activity. Our route is carefully planned by our engineer with friendly sugges- tions from the crew. First class passengers are given over to the care of Trainman Hadley. We reach Freshman Station and become acquainted with several of our future friends: Mr. English, Mr. Algebra, and Miss Latin. CThey are unusually hard to become acquainted withl. From Freshman Station we travel on to the Station of the Sophomores. We are now admitted as second class with Trainman Boston as our guardian. During our journey we have lost a few and gained a few. Among the lost was Trainman Hadley, but Trainman Boston became -a member of our group. - We travel on till we reach Junior Station. We are bee ginning to come to the end of our journey and passengers are beginning to realize the importance of their trip. With the assistance of Trainman Boston, we give a banquet in honor of our fourth-classmen. During this trip we lose Trainman Wells and gain Trainmen 0'Dell and Jarand. Our journey ends in Senior Station. We are new fourth classmen and arrangements are made for -the end of our journey. Many faces, now full of knowledge, are looking forward to the Land of Success with questionable glances, Trainman Hyde and Monical help us solve these problems. Near the end of the journey we are honored with a banquet by our third classmen. We are proud to be the first group to reach Journey's end in LaGrove Station with many new Trainmen in the Crew: namely Maxfield, Eckcr, Rush, and Shaffer. Trainman Boston was our only loss. We now disembark, our journey to the Land of Knowledge is ended, and we start on the Journey of Life. By Evelyn Rubin and Harold Kline. They started all the games except the ones which sickness or accident prevented. Out of the first ten, seven of these were seniors. B. Norman, H. Monical, C. Harvey, E. Williams, L. Lacey, D. Goodman and L. Grandt. H. Busse and T. Fitzgerald were the juniors, while D. Guy was the only sophomore. The season progressed very favorably until after Christ mas vacation. During the vacation sickness and infection set in. It had all the players weakened for the tourna- ment just a week away. Farina went to the new conference tournament in a weakened condition with Harvey and Norman both out. We were taken out by Clay City in the first game of the tournament. The old conference broke up last year, but Farina was lucky to get into the Midland Trail Conference, much stif- fer competition than the other conference, but we stood in third place. We are hoping for a good team next year. They are not experienced, but we have some large boys coming up who are expected to make next year's team. The second team won a large percentage this year, and they seemed strong both on offense and defense. We are hoping for as successful a season next year as the one this year. 9 We played St. Mary's at Sandoval in the Regional Tburn- ament and won. The next night we played Centralia to be taken out of the tournament thus ending a very, successful season. As for the following record shows, .you can see there were no outstanding players. The team was evenly matched. The following is the total individual points of the first five including tournaments! Last year F.H.S, entered baseball in place of track as a spring sport. This year we hope to have a very good team. Because of the conditions we have not been able to get started early enough to have any outlay on baseball We entered tennis into our sport program, also. The boys took the game up and there are a few.of them good e- nough to enter tournaments which may come later in' . the year. rg, Lwxyl ,.. , .
