After being predicted to finish second to last in district , the Gators set out to prove that they were real contenders for district championship. And that they did! By the end of the season, the Gators had earned an 8-1-1 record, a tie with Sulphur for district championship, and the right to play Neville in the state playoffs. Gator spirit and determination was evident throughout the entire season. The offense had field days against Barbe and Westlake. When they were down 6-0 by Acadiana with only seconds remaining, the offense came alive with one of the most spectacular touchdown passes of the year. You ask about defense? Ask Crowley, ask Wood- lawn, ask Lake Charles High because this year the Gator defense earned the right to be called the iron-curtain defense . How did they do it? Some say it was luck, oth- ers say it was teamwork. Maybe they are all right. One thing is for sureg 1975 will always be remembered as the year the Gators came alive!
