STEP 1 GATHERING THE NEWS Associate Editor, Ari Fairfield: Erlilor-in-Chief, Marilou Westg Business Manager, Shirley Shields LaGatc La Gator, LaGrange's Newspaper, is published and distributed to the students once a month. There are eight publications during the course of the school year. Club reporters are automatically re- porters for the paper. Other reporters and mem- bers of the staff are elected by the staff of the preceding year. In order to remain on the staff, each member is required to turn in three articles every month. The staff meets during the day at a certain time to work on the paper. Through working on the LaGator, it is possible to become a member of the National Quill and Scroll, a journalistic honor society. lVIembers of the staff having 200 column inches published and recommended by the newspaper's sponsor are in- vited to join. The National Honor Society is composed of students who have maintained a 3.5 aver- age for the first three years of high school. In addition, each stu- dent must have leader- ship abilities. The or- ganization encourages all students to take full advantage of the edu- cational opportunities offered to them. Each six-weeks, the students with a 3.5 average are honored with a party. 4 .. .
