Upon completion of two years study, Miss Tisdale plans to'enter the field of full- time religious music work. As the Seminary docs not offer work during the summer months, she will return to Louisiana during the vacation and will give assist- ance where she can in church work. During the year and a half of Miss Tisdale's leadership, thc vocal department has taken part in festival twherc they have re- ceived four Superior and seven Excellent ratingsl, district and state rallies, All-City Chorus, and All-State Chorus. Many Programs Presented To Give Pleasure and Training In addition music students have put on two complete programs at Camp Polk, and another for the benefit of the Red Cross Drive. Also during Miss Tisdalc's stay at La Grange, vocal groups have presented four concerts for the school or for the public. Miss Tisdale was an active member of the First Baptist Church choir. Many enjoyed her solo work for the Lake Charles choir. In 1953 Miss Tisdale had charge of the music for the Baccalaureate Sermon and for the Commence- ment exerciscs. This was only one of her many extraclass efforts to assist in bringing all studnnts to a closer acquaintance with, under- standing of, and love for music. Aithough La Grange students regret to lose such a capable and hardworking fa c u 1 t y member, many outstanding music students have expressed the wish for her success in her new undertaking and in her future field of work. They also have stated that they welcome Mr. Roland Hebert, a graduate of McNeese College, and now in charge of the vocal depart- ment. They arc happy that Supt. H. A. Norton and Assistant Supt. Clint Hanchey were able to secure someone qualified to replace Miss Tisdale and continue music at La Grange. Mr. Hebert is no relation to Mr. Herbert, who directed La Grange band two years. Louise Boone Leads Tri-Hi-Y Meeting Jan. 5 Louise Boone had her first opportunity to preside at Fresh- man Tri-Hi-Y meeting January 5, Miss Dorothy Cook, sponsor also attended the meeting, the first for the new year and the first since the election of officers. Other leaders are: Emily Norred, secretary and treasurer, and Toni Laughlin, vice-president. at PATSY COE-Editor FBLA Business Leaders Make Sports Programs FBLA members have been mak- ing programs and schedules for the basketball games and for the boxing matches. They run these booklets off on the new mimeo- graph machine recently purchased by the school. Most of the cover drawings for the early season games were by Edison Lopez, a senior. Other artists who have assisted are lrma Jean Miller and Leroy LeBlanc, seniors, and by Claude Abney, a junior. Members on the program committce and helping with the work include: Shirley Castellaw, Lois Bennett, Lucille Duhon, Barbara Hutson, and Elaine Newman. Programs Given at Each Event According to Mr. James Blevins of the commerce depart 'it 100 Late Faculty Changes Three New at LGHS Replacements were made in the music, home economics, and Eng- lish department faculty personnel at mid-term. 'io ,f Studied For Second Year by a Senior Group Hence once again this year a study often omitted in high school will be taken up by thc senior class when they begin considera- tion of development of personality in thc direction of marriage and family life. Many of the previous generation have not done so well with the handling of marriage problems if they are to be judged by the number of broken homes. That is why La Grange PTA is helping the school in supplementing its curriculum in this field by provid- ing a series of letters to seniors entitled Milestones to Maturity. These give advice on problems of young adults, introduce the youth to problems of the older adults, and help students in developing and improving their personalities. Each senior the PTA hope will take advantage of this opportunity to gain a little insight and advice on his or her future life. The very fullest cooperation by each will be deeply appreciated, espe- cially by Miss Lacy. GALE BERRY Distributors and SUPPLY CO. 'lt matters not how little you save, but how often.
