With a more serious purpose in mind We buckled down to a year full of hard Work but filled with fun. The tune old southern custom of giving a Junior-Sem ior Banquet rolled around. We added a lovely note to our scale in that We enter- tained the Seniors at an unusual banquet. Worlcing in unison and harmony, We completed the measure for the junior year led by President James Bennett, Vice- President Jean Webster, and Secretary and Treasurer Annie Davis. Letting the hands fall heavily to strike the last chord on the scale at L. H. S., we realize that we are soon leaving this school, and it sets us reminiscing. There's a long, long trail a-winding' from our Freshman to our Senior year, and we look back over it as we carry on to graduation. Our ofiicers this year are jack Wilson, President, Austin Crouch, Vice-President, Betsy Davis, Secretary, and Annie Davis, Treasurer. Q MILDRED AVERY . , Pfegidgnt HlHHINH HIH lHl lHSlHHUNI1-HP There must always be a beginning. Even in our musical score we have a start-the Freshman year. To represent l-QW SENIQR QFFICERS the dainty, half-scared, delicate ways 0 f'oL1.vN?o5E .....,..... Vice-President the beginners, we use the minuet. I EAN ,c ANIEL . . . Secretary i b ' t ,f t' 'n ti toe- TROY MOSS . ' . Treasurer l936, a out nine y our rlppl g, p ing Hratsi' came to L. H. S. to prove their worth and to improve their intel- lects. In the course of the minuet this class showed forth their abilities by winning first prize in a clean-up campaign sponsored by the school. Keeping us in step with the music, Barbara Jackson was elected President, James Pearce, Vice-President, Dunson Dunaway, Secretary and Treasurer. Getting the swing of the minuet in mind, we pepped things up and prepared for the Sophomore year. With a tune more catchy and a measure more sure, the Hfroshi' progressed into a cocksure, know- it-all attitude. Although fallen into this category, we accomplished much good. The Junior Hi-Y and Junior Tri-Hi-Y were organized with Jimmy Trotter and Polly Gore as their respective Presidents. Climaxing the year, just at the fall of the curtain, first place in.the Junior division of the swimming meet sang glory to the jittery Hsophsf' The officers seen in the lead-outn were Polly Gore, President, Barbara Jackson, Vice-President, Jimmy Trotter, Secretary and Treasurer. Slowing down into a smoother tempo, the juniors realized that music hath charms, and the graduation march sounded like music to listening ears. Time for work for the home stretch was in view and the last round-up was looming up before us, reminding us to study. In harmony with the Seniors, then, we became socially acquainted with senior ways and manners at the Junior-Senior Ban- quet. Fox-trotting along, we were led by Mildred Avery, Presidentg Barbara Jackson, Vice-President, Jimmy Trotter, Secretary, Jean McDaniel, Treasurer. With a lilting tune and smooth-flowing rhythm, we glided into a waltz upon the dance floor of L. H. S. Getting out of step and on people's feet we asked lVIildred Avery, Polly Gore, Jean Mc- Daniel, Troy lVIoss, President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, -to lead out in the well-known dance, the waltz. As we look back over the four years we see a long, long trail a-winding, full of memories, and swaying with harmonious triumphs. Although We sing praises to the first team, We often make the scrubs the lost chord. Let us not forget that it ' is the scrub with the splinters in his pantsn that furnishes the first team with opposition to battle against in preparing for the oncoming schedule.
