A People Set Apart Meet Mike O. Blivion, freshman pledge to I Phelta Thi. He goes to frat parties, drinks, meets girls there who drink, and gets back to the dorm very late. He also regularly misses his eight o ' clock class. He says his alarm clock is broken. Ah, and here ' s Joe N. Dee. He sometimes says that fraternities are for the pseudo-elitist spawn of a capitalist-oriented demagogery. Usually he just says that they ' re for jerks. Sitting next to him is Karen Hermaskovich. Karen collects Milton memorabilia and quotes the Koran. She has a hard time getting dates. Outside the student center is a crowd of guys. No wonder, look who ' s in the middle of the crowd. It ' s Ima Thi, known affectionately as being up front — which is where her main assets are. When not surrounded by a crowd of guys, she may frequently be seen on the porch swing on the back side of the Smith building with her latest victim . . . er . . . boyfriend.

Meeting People Hermy Firnburger is a junior. He transferred to LaGrange from Old Harris College. People don ' t understand when he asks intelligent questions in class like, May I ask a question, sir? He also has a bad habit of getting lost in the bookstore. Oh, there ' s Gilda Dif. No one quite seems to know anything about her, but then, no one seems to want to, either. Well, that takes care of about 5% of our students. Those are the ones who make things interesting, or, at least entertaining. The rest of the students are just plain folks, cruising through life or whatever it takes to survive. They cram for tests, sleep late on Saturdays to catch up from cramming for tests, and watch the other 5% do the strange things they do to get their names in obscure college yearbooks like this one.
