Dorm Daze acclaimed tropical fun for all A luau complete with a roast pig, hula contests, colorful leis and Hawiian music was held for dornitory students on Wednesday, April 26. The luau, which was formally scheduled to take place at S unny Gables, was held in the cafeteria in- stead, because of the tropical winds and rains that left the girls in grass skirts shivering. The luau was sponsored by the resident assistants and began in the gym with various games such as the tube race, jump-rope contests, hula- hoop contests, an obstacle course, and a run-around-the-island.

Cafeteria provides social activities for students To many students the cafeteria is a kind of social haven; a place to mingle and to see and talk to anyone and everyone. DR. WAIGHTS G. HENRY, JR.: A SALUTE Under the administration of Dr. Henry, LaGrange College has become recognized as one of the strongest small Liberal Arts Colleges in the Southeast. From fifteen graduates in 1948, the graduating class has grown to almost two hundred students. During these years the college has also grown by 600% enrollment, 15% faculty, 13 buildings, and three million dollars. The library, after being moved from Quillian, has grown from 1,000 to ap- proximately 65,000 books. Teaching equipment, once only a few maps and microscopes, now consists of sophisticated equipment in math, business administra- tion, language, and science. Despite these phenomenal changes, Dr. Henry feels that his administration will be best remembered 100 years from now for acquisitions made in the area of the fine arts. Because of the President ' s interest in art, many works have come to the college by artists such as Lamar Dodd, Albert Christ-Janer, Carl Holtey, Charles Hargins, Athos Menaboni, and Edward Shorter. The College owns a 17th century Spanish oil painting and an 18th century tapestry woven in Brussels. Other works include a sculptured head of Lamar Dodd by James F. Thompson, A bronze statue of John Wesley by Marshal Daugherty, and a bronze copy of a 5th century B.C. Greek shepherd boy. Dr. and Mrs. Leland D. Case have donated an Indian art collection. This collection contains art and artifacts of the Hopi , Sioux, Pueblo, Navajo, and Apache Nations. Finally, LaGrange College owns two Cowboy Equestrian Statues by Harry Jackson: Two Champs and Bronc Stomper. One is from the mold of the statue given to Queen Elizabeth II in Nov. 1976 by President Gerald Ford. 28
