I want my eyes to feel it. I don ' t want you to tell me My smile will last. I want to see it Shining above my world. And with every day Looking back, My feeling dwelling, And my memories whispering This is College Life G. Y. In every bush a word is hidden. In every Rose a smile is lying. We walk through life — Often we forget that yesterday was once here. We even forget to smile. Time takes away everything . . . Once I was a student And my eyes sought life. Like all that preceded me, I am a follower . . . I am a student . . . I am a leader . . . I am a LaGrange College freshman I am an individual I walk around new In a world I want to be mine. I am young. Life passes near my eyes. With every day I become aware of my responsibilities. I want to be Everything I am capable of being. 7 I am the Sophomore. My tomorrows lie between four walls. Because he remains an individual in a world characterized by conformity . . . Because he recognizes the strength, the tal- ent, the ability in everyone and encourages those qualities . . . Because he is a counselor to those who need his advice, a teacher to those who seek his knowledge, and a friend to those who desire his friendship . . . Because of all that he has meant to us . . . We dedicate the 1969 Quadrangle to Dr. James Dodd I am the student . . . I realize that my education comes but I also know that my studies must be supplemented with extracurricular activities. Th rough taking advantage of these activities I become a well-rounded individual and a fuller part of college life. Participation in clubs, committees, Greek activi- ties and service organizations round out my life. Each group is designed to help me develop the qualities of citizenship, leadership, and cooperation. Organizations are an informative means of broadening my interest in a particular field. Now that all the pictures have been taken, all the sections have been completed, the Quadrangle Dance is over, the Dedication has been made, and the books have been given out, we can look back in the coming years to remember the joys, hardships, and good times that we shared in this year. Its purpose is to report news of interest to the stu- dent body, faculty, administration, and college community. Its purpose also is to comment editorally with opinions which concern the well- being of the college. Jim Menge Editor Joe McLean Becky Pound Ken Aclcis General Staff 26 Nancy NeSmith Cartoonist Hill Top News 27 Student Government Association The Student Government Association spon- sored many college activities this year; some of which include the freshman class elections, dances in the gym, and the Blood Drive. It also coordinates the Miss LaGrange College Pageant and Freshman Orientation. The Legis- lat ive Council rewrote the student Constitution and the handbook. 28 Southern Universities Student Government Association The Student Government Associa- tion sponsored many college activities this year; some of which included the freshman class election, dances in the gym, and the Blood Drive. It also co- ordinated the Miss La Grange College Pageant and Freshman Orientation. Judicial Council Gene Frame; Nancy Kight; Glennis Scott; Connie Lyle Greek Council The Greek Council coordinates, governs, and exercises the final ✓ord in the affairs of the social and 3reek organizations on campus. It s composed of the president and 3ne representative of each sorority 3nd fraternity and the student gov- 3rnment president. Sigma Sigma is an honor- ary society for science and mathematics stu- dents and faculty. This organization meets for the purpose of stimu- lating thinking and for exploring areas of science which are not touched upon in for- mal courses. 32 Pi Gamma Mu The LaGrange College Chapter was organized in 1954 as a social science honorary fraternity. Mem- bership is extended to advanced students in the social science discipline of history, political science, and economics. These students must have maintained a B average and must be in the top 35% of their class. Alpha Mu Gamma The purpose of this branch of the National Collegiate Foreign-Language Honor Society is to honor students for outstanding achievements in the study of foreign languages in college. One of the basic aims is to foster sympathetic understanding of other peoples. 33 Choralaires Performing in assembly and at various functions on and off campus, including a tour in the Spring, the Choralaires provide an opportunity for interested and talented students to sing and present entertainment for the college. Connie Lyle Accompanist 34 SNEA STUDENT NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION For education majors, the SNEA seeks to elevate the character and advance the profession of teaching and to promote the cause of education in the United States. MADRIGAL GROUP The Madrigals, a new vocal group on campus, seeks to promote the musical talents of their mem- bership. Under the direction of Mr. Paul Doster, the Madrigals perform for special concerts as a part of the choraliers. Madrigals Inter-Faith Council The Inter-Faith Council encourages ous organizations which represent their of the several religious organizations on for the campus assembly programs. students to participate in the religi- faith and coordinates the activities campus. It also selects the speakers Pre-Ministerial Association The purpose of this organization is to pro- vide individuals inter- ested in church relat- ed vocations with ex- periences which will prepare them for such professions. Wesley Fellowship Wesley Fellowship is a Methodist student organization which provides an opportunity for all students to grow spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally. Under the advisorship ot Dr. Naglee, the Wesley Fellowship sponsors community projects and interesting and informative programs for the stu- dent body. Wesley Fellowship is active in the University Christian Move- ment which is a Non-denominational organization that strives to bring Re- ligion closer to the college student. Women ' s Athletic Association The Women ' s Athletic Association was organized to foster a spirit of good sportsmanship, whole- some play, and the development of a sound mind in a sound body. Every woman student enrolled at LaGrange College is a member of the W.A.A., and each is encouraged to participate in the sports activities, volleyball, basketball, Softball, bad- minton, tennis, and ping pong. The W.A.A. is also in charge of Stunt Night and May Day activities. Men s Athletic Association The Men ' s Athletic Association offers to all male students an in- tramural sports program which en- deavors to develop these men both physically and mentally. Foot- ball, basketball, and softball are among the major sports provided for male students. 39 Circle K International CIRCLE K, LaGrange College Chap- ter No. 102, is Kiwanis-sponsored fel- lowship of college men organized into service clubs.
