Gay throngs of joyous maidens have none forth From L. C. ' s cloistered u-alls and ivy-hung. Some now renoivned ; some unknoivn to fame, With countless deeds of happy days unsung. These halls they croicdeil, clattering on the stair; They danced and jested to siceet music loiv. Like sili ' er shadoics drifted dreamily: — Like moonlit phantoms through the past they go. Here they lived and sa-2v hut dimly life ' s fair dream; Here in silence strove for ivistlom from afar: Saw here the shadoivs sifted lacc-likc through the trees. Stark white beneath a vault of moon and stars. They found here peace, a sanctuary siveet Within the rejuge that these icalls embrace; Courage they found, perchance to face defeat: Antl faith and hope and love, the croiuning grace. Our days within these walls, like theirs, have fled : H e find as noiv we backward trace once more The thread of life that passing years have spun, — Our memories , like theirs, a golden store. U e treasure an affection that transcends The dazzling glitter of mere earthly things. This heritage is yours to carry on And to enrich by all that your life brings; To cherish ivith a joyful loyalty. And as the shining future is unrolled. May it be jewelled u ' ith victories nobly icon; LaGrange is yours forever to uphold.
