COMMAND MASTER CHIEF MMCMISSJ Rickie L. Woodson The son of Jewel and Billy Woodson of Sterling, IL, MMCM Rickie Woodson enlisted in the Navy in June 1972 and completed recruit training and 'A' school at Great Lakes. His first assignment was to USS BAUER IDE-10251 in San Diego. After a short tour, he attended Navy Nuclear Power Training and reported to USS JAMES MONROE ISSBN-6221 where he served as a member of the machinery division. In July 1979 he was assigned as an instructor and leading crew chief at the Nuclear Power Training Unit, West Milton, NY. He was assigned to the pre-commissioning unit USS OLYMPIA ISSN-7171 in December 1982 where he served as the machinery division leading chief and engineering department enlisted assistant, with a follow on tour in July 1987 as the assistant material officer for Commander Submarine Squadron SIX. In January 1988 he reported to Submarine Training Facility, Norfolk where he served as an instructor and Command Master Chief. Master Chief Woodson assumed his current duties as CMC aboard USS L. Y. SPEAR on 4 March 1991. Master Chief Woodson's awards include FBM Deterrent Patrol pin with three gold stars, Navy Achievement with gold star, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle 'E' Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal with Bronze star, South West Asia Service Medal with Bronze star and Sea Service Ribbon with four Bronze stars. Master Chief Woodson is married to the former Adell Jensen of Marquette, NE and they have four children. K Nmsi f 5
