Editors Speak DEAR STUDENTS: Life is nothing more than a change, and so the delegation of society re- volves in motion with the challenge of an over-all distinction of pride and respect. Some of us taste this distinction while others lurk in the shadows of faith, loneliness, and grace which life holds unexpectedly for us. We have undertaken a change here at L. G. Pinkston this year, and the 1971 yearbook has tried to capture these memories of our most explosive year yet. In introducing this year's book we took pride in a new era of VIKING history. Under the leadership of Mr. Travis Johnson and Mr. Leon Hayes, we have accomplished many successful achievements. I would personally like to thank Mr. James L. Finnell yearbook chairman. Also added thanks and appre- ciation to Gloria Joe, Beverly High, Phyllis Bell, and Roxie Gray who put forth special efforts in working with this book. Added thanks to my Staff and the Photography Staff without whose help this book would be impossible. MARVIN WAYNE MOONEY yfaf-fffgz EDITOR OF 1971 In every person's live there are precious moments that he should wish to remember. We, the staff of the VIKING ANNUAL, have a burning desire to capture the golden moments of L. G. Pinkston High School. 1 This. yearbook has been prepared for you. I hope that you will enjoy viewing this annual as much as we have enjoyed preparing it. Change with direction is the only path to progress, and that is the ever-important yardstick with which the many changes at L. G. Pinkston have been. lVIuch study, much thought, and careful planning have given birth to a new, more vigorous, L. G. Pinkston High School. I Never seek to equal, but seek to excelfl VANESS D.
